People You Know Items of Interest Concerning Clinton Residents S' Miss Mary Catherine Anderson, student at the University of Georgia, Athens, is spending sev eral weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Anderson, before returning to the university to . attend summer school. Mrs W. W. Harris and Miss Cornelia Harris spent the week- 1 end at Myrtle Beach. The following girls, who were accompanied by their parents, left Monday for a three weeks stay at Camp Ton-A-Wandah, near Hendersonville, N. S.: Celia Gasque, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gasque; Corinne Boyd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. Hu bert Boyd; Barbara Eichelberger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. . Eichelberger; and Mary Jane Ad dison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Addison. Mrs. Robert K Patterson and son, Raymond, of Bon Aire, Va., are spending several weeks with her mother, Mrs. Mary N. Nor man. Mr. Patterson accompanied them here for a several days stay, coming especially to attend the i graduation of Miss Patricia Nor man at Clinton high school. Mr. and Mrs. Denny Pitts and son, Willie, of Anderson, spent Sunday with the former’s sister, Mrs. Joe Bonds, and other rela tives. Mrs. Michael Turner was at Winthrop college on Friday and Saturday to attend the reunion of her class. She was joined there by Miss Jean Laytno, of Green ville, who returned to Clinton with her to spend the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Layton. Also joining than in Rock Hill was Mrs. Roy Crowson, of Gastonia, N. C., the former Miss Carolyn Henry of this city. Miss Martha Wilson, student at Erskine College, Due West, has been at hone with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Wilson. She returns to Srskine Monday to at- t e n d twelve weeks summer school. Jimmy Farmer of Newport, Tenn., is the guest of Billy El- dridge this week. R. M. Turner, Captain Richard S. Craig, Dr. E. N. Sullivan and Dr. Jatnes L Walker spent a few | days during the past week on a fishing trip to Clarks Hill Mr. and Mrs. H. It. Williamson, Sr.," of Lancaster, Dr. and Mrs. Napoleon Hill, of Greenville, were guests during the week-end of Mrs. Leila N. Johnson, coming | especially to attend commence ment at Presbyterian college. Their nephew, Charles W. John son, was a member of the gradu ating class. Mrs. A. B. Galloway of Jack sonville, Fla., is spending several days with her son and grand daughter, J. Ashby Galloday and Miss Gerry Galloway. Mrs. R. E. Martin was at Win throp college to attend a reunion of her class. Mr. and Mrs. Irby S. Hpp, Jr., and son, Irby 3rd, of Rock Hill, spent the week-end with the for mer’s parents. Mrs. Almon Spencer, accom panied by her mother, Mrs. Em mie McMahan, of Anderson, left Saturday for a visit with her sis ter, Mrs. George Pworek, in Sa lima, Calif. They went by train to Washngton where they took a plane to San Diego where they were met by Capt. Pworek. Mrs. W. I. Henderson, of Thorn- well orphanage, left Tuesday for a month's visit with Mrs. M. B. Edwards in Beaumont, Texas. Mrs. Daisey Turner, of Atlan ta, Ga., was a guest during the week-end of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Cason, coming especially for grad uation at Clemson college. The Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Mer chant have moved into the recent ly purchased Broad Street Meth odist church parsonage on Chest nut street Mrs. R. E. Martin and Bobby Cason were In Rock Hill during the week to attend oommence- ment at Winthrop college and the former attended a reunion of her claas.* Mrs. John W. Little returned Tuesday from a week’s stay at Crescent Beach as the guest of her sister, Mrs. James L Bryson, of Wlnnsboco. Mrs. Rebecca Wright who has been spending the winter months in Chattanooga, Tenn., has come to make her home with her daugh ter, Mrs. L E. Cason. She waa accompanied here by Mrs. Lester Bowden for a week's visit. Mr. Bowden will join them for the coining week-end. Mrs. D. M. Douglas, of Chester, was the guest for several days this week of Mrs. C. M. Bailey. Misses Kay Thomas arid Delle Wilder are spending a month at Camp Pinnacle near Henderson ville, N. C. , - Friends of Miss Lou Belle Neighbors will regret to learn she is a patient at Columbia hos pital in Columbia. « Guests Monday of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Thomas were Mrs. George Freeland, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Free land and son, Billy, of Conshohoc- ken, Pa., and Bob Freeland, of Greenville. \ •(Lt. Col. and Mrs. B. F. Win- gard and son, Binki, attended graduation at Clemson college on Sunday. Mrs. Wingard’s nephew, William Nash Wasson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Wasson, of Hickory Tavern, was a member of the graduating class. Friends will be interested to know he has ac cepted a civil engineering posi tion in Washington. Mrs. W. W. Smith and daughter, Gwen, of Charleston, are visiting her parents, thfe Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Darr. Mr. Smith will join them cobs and Mrs. Ray’s sister, Mrs. J. W. Flynn in Greenville on Sunday. . „ ‘Barry Ellison, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Ellison, left Sunday for induction into the army at Fort Jackson for six months military training. Major and Mrs. Ned S. Hays and children returned yesterday to their home in Raleigh, N. C., after spending a few days with the former’s mother, Mrs. C. W. Stone* Mrs. Crawford DuBose was a visitor in Charleston during the week-end and attended the wed ding of Miss Betty Blanchard and John Imsende at Sullivan’s Island on Saturday. She was joined there by her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pease, of Baltimore, Md., who were atten dants in the wedding. Mrs. Pease and Miss Blanchard were rom mates at Winthrop college. They accompanied Mrs. Crawford here on Saturday for an overnight visit. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Clayte Ray have returned from a trip to Mont real, Canada, where the former at tended a meeting of life under writers of the Life Insurance com pany of Virginia. Mrs. Emmie Wingard, who makes her home with her daugh ter, Mrs. Russell King, in Darling ton, is spending some time with ha son, Lt. Col. B. F. Wingard and Mrs. Wingard. Mrs. James L. Walker was in Columbia Friday to attend grad uation of the University of South Carolina. Her brother, Lee Koty, was a member of the graduating class. Mrs. E. T. Woodruff is visiting her son and daughter, H. W. Woodruff and Mrs. Russell Mize and their families in Sarasota, Fla., for several weeks. Mrs. Dan Yarborough has re turned from a visit of several days to relatives in High Point. She was accompanied home by her sister, Miss Mary Turner who will spend the summer with the Yar boroughs. Miss Anne Ovens, of Colum bia. attended a reunion of her class at Winthrop college, Rock Hill, on Saturday and spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Owens here. Mrs. George R. Holland and grandson, George Holland, left yesterday for a several weeks stay jwith her motha, Mrs. F. A. Buch anan, in Swannanoe, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Holland, of Allendale, visited relatives here the past week-end. Mrs. Earl P. Barron and chil dren, of Atlanta, who have been visiting ha parents. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Miss Nancy Cook, student at Wesleyan college, Macon, returned to her home here the past week. On Tuesday Mrs. David S. Cook, Misses Nancy and Terrell left for a vacation trip to New York and Maine. They will visit Mrs. Cook’s mother. Mrs. George M. Abbott on Long Island and she will accom pany them to Saco, Maine, where they will be guests of friends. Vernon Harwo^, Jr., of Char lotte, N. C., spent the week-end with his parents here. W. L Corbett was in Charlotte, N. C., Monday and Tuesday to at tend a meeting of J. C. Penney company managers. Mrs. Roily Bannister, of Cross Hill, is spending two weeks with her brother, J. H. Bryson and family in Dothan, Ala., and at their gulf home in Panama City, Fla. Miss Elizabeth Boland, member of the Clinton high school faculty, left last week for Columbia where she will spend the summer with her sister. -* Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Cason, Mr, and Mrs. R. E. Martin were at Clemson Sunday for graduation exercises. Their son and brother. Robert Cason, was a member of the graduating class. Jordan and children, of Martinsburg, Va., have been visiting Mrs. Jordan’s parents, Col. and Mrs. Robert E. Wysor here this week. Mrs. Jor dan spent several days in Colum bus. Ga.. with her sister, Mrs. Ben jamin F. Ivey, Jr., and Mr. Jor dan attended a meeting of J. C. Penney^ company managers in Charlotte. N. C., earlier in the week.
