Miller. 76, died at his home in Whitmire Thursday night flolowing several months of de clining health. He was ^eriously il| for the past week. Mr. Miller had made his home in Whitmire for the past 56 years and was bom and reared in Cross Hill. He was a retired furniture and hardware merchant. He was an elder in the Whitmire Presby terian church which he helped to build and was a Shrinre. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Wilma Ramey Miller; two daugh ters, Mrs. Crlenn Alexander of Van Wyck. and Mrs. Billie Hanna Young of Whitmire; one brother, Hassell Miller, of Whitmire; two sisters, Mrs. Alliene Leaman of Crops Hill; ahd Mrs. Mary Ratch- ford of Mt. Ray Linville. Burial was in the Whitmire cemetery. Decision Delayed On Bush River Newberry, April 14—The New berry County Board of Education last night r^-elected all teachers in the county schools except those at Silverstreet and Bush River. Vigorous efforts have been made by patrons of the two schools remain open instead of closing the schools and having the pupils transported to Newberry. J _ Another meeting is planned Thursday night and probably a decision will be reached then as to whether the two schools will re main open or be closed for the next session. Satterfield Completes Naval Training Period Gerald DS Satterfield, of Clin ton, graduates from recruit train ing April 14 at the Naval Train ing Center, Great Lakes, 111. The nine weeks of “boot camp’’ included drill and instruction in seamanship, gunnery, life saving, sea survival, boat handling, and the use of small arms.
