enthusiasm among the City's
young men is running high for
the formation of a Jaycee chapter
here. A heavy attendance is ex
pected at the organizational meet
ing, open to all young men of the
city, to be held Tuesday. April 17,
at 7:30 p m.. at Rodldy's restau
rant.
Items of business at the meet
ing will include election of offi
cers, establishment of a dues rate,
drafting a by-laws and constitu
tion, preparation of an applica
tion for alfiliation t with the state
and national organizations, as
well as discussion of a member
ship drive and arrangements for

To Naval Petty Officer
Eriends of Wayne McLendon,
son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Mc
Lendon, will be interested to know
he has been promoted to the rank
of petty officer, and is now an
electrician’s mate, third class.
He has served in the navy for
almost two years and was aboard
the U. S. S. Baltimore, having re
cently transferred to the reserve
fleet at Seattle. Washington.

R. Jud Langston
Robert Judson Langston, 8l, of
Rt. 2, Laurens, -died early Friday
in, the Laurens County hospital
following several years of declin
ing health and a serious illness of
three weeks.
He was a native <^f Laurens
county and a son of the late Thom
as S. and Fannie’ Finley Langston.
He was a member of We New
Prospect Baptist church and of
the 'Palmetto Masonic lodge of
Laurens.
Survivors include one brother,
Dr. A. B. Langston, of Laurens,
and three sisters, Mrs. J. D. Bry
son, Miss ' Carrie Langston, and
Miss Mamie Langston, all of Laur-

vision and Billy Wallace, of the
Ford chapter, in meat animal divi
sion. Second place in dairy judg
ing wen-t to Leroy Cockrell, of
Greenwood, and in’meat animal to
Tommy Roland, of Hickory Tav
ern.
Other teams placing in the judg
ing of meat animals were Ford,
second, and Hickory Tavern, third.
Ruaners-up in trie dairy animal
judging were Clinton, second, and
Hickory Tavern, third.
- Participating chapters were from
Clinton, Ford, Gray Court-Owings,
Hickory Tavern and Greenwood
schools.

Mrs. John Watts Davis and small
son, Tommy, left the .past week for
New. York where they sailed on
Saturday aboard the S. S. Randall
to join Lt; Davis in Hersfeld, Ger
many, where he is stationed with
the armed forces. They will land
in Bremerhaven the 17th.
Since Lt. Davis left for over
seas duly Mrs. Davis and Tommy
have been with her mother, Mrs.
