think it is necessary for me to
make any statement as to my
qualifications or position on mat
ters as concern our citizens. Dur-
my seven terms in the legisla
ture I have taken a firm stand for
the principles that make a state
great. As a business man I feel
that the affairs of state and coun
ty should be transacted on a
sound business basis. All mdney
spent by the county and state
must come from the taxpayers,
therefore oftentimes it is impos
sible to grant all of the requests
for expenditures. 1 favor strict
law enforcement^'' a sound tax
structure, fairness to both capital
and labor, good schools and high
ways, and friendliness toward
more industry for odr county.
“I am deeply grateful to the fine
citizens of Laurens county who
have so many times expressed to
me their confidence and endorse
ment of my principles by electing
me to the General Assembly sev
en times. I shall always conduct
myself in the way that a Chris
tian gentleman should and I shall
flet this mode of life guide me in
serving as a member of this law
making body.” f
