Cross Hill Club
Adopts Resolution
On Segregation
The following resolutions were
unanimously adopted by the
Cros$ Hill Democratic club at its
reorganization meeting Saturday:
Resolved:
1. That we. as free and law
abiding citizens of South Carolina
and the United States of America,
disapprove of the decision of the
U. S. Supreme Court’s ruling on
segregation.
2. That we consider the action j
as infringing upon the “rights of!
the states” to manage the internal
affairs of the state.
3 That we wish to affirm our
sincere belief in the possibility of
co-existence of the' two races
amicably in our state.
4. That we believe our two
faces would exist peacefully,
were it not for outside interfer
ence and agitation
5. That we believe the activi
ties of the white and colored
races can be more satisfactorily
and efficiently, administered un
der segregation.
6 That we wish to heartily
commend our governor, legisla
ture, and all active citizens for
their efforts to retain segregation
in our public schools and state,
aided colleges. „
7. That we hope the de-segr?-;
gationists will desist from their
efforts to impose upon us some
thing we do not want nor think
best.
8. That we memorialize bur
state Democratic convention’ *to
exert every lawful effort to re
tain segregation in our state.
