To Stage Three
Sweetheart Banquets,
Three Sweetheart banquets will
be held at the Joanna Baptist
church beginning with the Junior
department on Friday evening,
Feb. 10 at 7 o’clock.
On Saturday evening. Feb. 11,
at 7:30 p. m. the annual church
wide Sweetheart banquet for In
termediates, young people and
adults will be held.
On Tuesday evening^February
14. at 6 o’clock, members of the
primary departments will enjoy
a banquet.
Teen-Age Canteen
Sets Vafentine Dance
The Teen Age Canteen will hold
its Valentine formal Friday, Feb.
10 from 8 until 11 at the Ameri
can Legion Home.

Named As Clinton's
"Pretty Boy" for 1956

J. C. Pace, well known high-
wap patrolman of the Clinton
area, has been named as the city’s
“Pretty Boy” in a contest con
ducted for the benefit of the
March of Dimes cmapaign.
Pace 4ed the field of three
candidates with 4.125 votes. He
represented the Exchange club.
Representing the Kiwanis club
was Reese Young, who garnered
3,584 votes: and Mac Adair, of
the Lions club, had ■ 2,648.

Episcopal church, include a pan-
■tomine skit to be enacted by five
college students modeling sports
wear from local men’s shops.
The cast includes Dick Booth.
Tommy Reeves, Charles Dukes,
Gene Ransdall, and Noble Collins,
all students at Presbyterian col
lege, who are to show clothing
from Adair’s, L. B. Dillard’s, and
Johnson and Pitts.
Other features of the evening's
entertainment which ..centers
around a fashion preview of early
spring and summer styles from
local ladies’ shops modeled by
Clinton teen-agers and young ma
trons. includes door prizes do
nated by the city’s merchants
and favors for the guests.
Final plans announced this
week list clothing to be shown
such as lingerie, beach wear,
sports apparel, casual cottons,
afternoon dresses, suits, and for-
mals, with accessories.
The style show/~lhe second of
its kind to be presented by the
auxiliary, is a continuation of its
program to further the work of
All Saints Mission through a
fund-raising campaign. Last
year’s presentation, ‘Tea ’n Togs,”
introduced the fashion preview
as a project erf the organization.
The public is invited. Tickets
are now on sale by members of
the auxiliary. /
Funeral Today For
Mrs. J. J. Coxwell
Mrs, Ellen Carroll Coxwell,
70, wife of J. J. Coxwell, died
early Tuesday morning at Bla
lock clihic after several years of
declining health. She was a na
tive- of Augusta, Ga., but had
made her home here for a num
ber of yean. ' *
She is survived by her hus
band; one daughter, Mrs. Louise
Fuller of Clinton; three broth
ers, T. E., W. C., and R. L. Car-
roll, all of Augusta, Ga.; two sis
ters. Mrs. V. V. Rikard and Mrs.
J. H. Harden, of Augusta ,Ga.;
and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
this (Thursday) afternoon at 3:30
o'clock at Friendship Baptist
church on North Broad Street
extension, conducted by the Rev.
Harold Hanley, assisted by the
Rev. J. W. Spillers.
Burial will be in Holly Grove
Baptist church cemetery near j
Laurens. .
The body will remain at the
home of hqr daughter, Mrs.
Louise Fuller, 106 Buice st., un
til 2:30 this afternoon at which
time it will be placed in the
church to await thd hour of the
services.
Pallbearers will be Paul Smith,
L. B. Berwington, W. D. McWat-
ters, Joe Campbell, J. R. Price
and Sidney Bryson.
