Following the ceremony, the couple with their wedding atten dants stood In the vestibule of the church and received the good wishes of their friends and wed ding guests. For her godng-away outfit, the bride chose a champagne colored brocade faille sheath dress with short jacket. With this she wore a jeweled beige satin hat, match ing gloves, and black skin shoes and bag, and a corsage of white rosebuds lifted from her bridal bouquet. Mrs. Ramage was recently grad uated from Winthrop college, where she served as president of the freshman class, as editor of the student newspaper, and as a member of the Christian Associa tion cabinet. Strom Thurmond (D-SC) is back ing a proposal to guarantee every cotton farmer a minimum quota of four acres or 80 per cent of 4ts highest planted acreage in the past three years. Thurmond said 16,830 South Carolina cotton farmers had a .quota of less than five acres in 1955, and some had less than two acres. He agreed with Sen. John) Stennis (D-Miss) author of the four-acre bill, that such cuts are ‘liquidating the small farmer.” The proposal is being consider ed by the Senate Agriculture Committee. Npv. ♦ i .—-—- Eden r Forgets To Propose Toast To President of U. S. —♦— — Washington, Jan. 31 — Sir An thony Eden tirpped over one of the diplomatic niceties at a state dinner last .night. The British Prime Minister did not propose the customary toast to President Eisenhower. It was assumed that Eden, a veteran diplomat, forgot his clos ing lines in addressing the dinner guests. He paid tribute to Eisen hower but sat down without of fering a toast. Eisenhower did not attend the dinner, given by Secretary of State Dulles. The President is foregoing the social activities connected with Eden’s current visit. Just before Eden spoke, Dulles had concluded his remarks to the gathering by proposing a toast to Queen Elizabeth. Report Crop, Livestock Prices increase Washington, Jan. 31—The Agri culture Department reported to day that prices received by farm ers for their crops and livestock rose one per cent in the month ending Jan. 15. The increase left farm prices about seven per cent below Jan uary, 1955, levels. The department also reported that the fanners’ production and living costs rose one per cent be tween mid-December artd mid- January. The exemption is one of the nine points in President Eisen hower’s farm relief program, but both Republicans and Democrats claimed credit for it.
