Fellowship Club Meets
The first meeting of the year
for the Young People’s Fellow-
shiy club was held Sunday after
noon at 3:00 with 17 present.

Women's Club Help Polio Drive
The Woman’s Club of Clinton
Mill is making plans to partici
pate in the March of Dimes drive
at their regular January meeting,
the date of which has been
changed from Jan. 17 to Jan. 20.
The club has accepted the re
sponsibility of collecting dona
tions from people who are con
nected with Clinton Mill. /
On Friday night, Jan. 20th,
every house in the village is ask
ed to burn its porch light as
guideposts for the women who
will stop at the houses to collect
donations. The club members are
asked to meet at the Communi
ty House at 6 p. m.
The Polio Foundation Commit
tee is making an effort to contact
each cligb member to assist with
the drive on Jan. 20th. It is hoped
that a large number of the wom
en will cooperate and- deem it a
privilege to be able to help with
such a worthy drive.

Section 1. That no person, firm
or corporation shall after the
1st day of January, 1956, engage
in, prosecute or carry on any
business or profession hereinaf
ter named, within the corporate
limits of the Town of Clinton,
without first having paid a spec
ial license* 'tax therefor. The
amount of said special tax shall
be the amount placed opposite
each occupation, business or pro
fession hereinbelow named, re
spectively, and the amount shall
be the cost of said special tax per
annum unless otherwise speci

Section 2. That all licenses is
sued when and by vi^ttie^of ..this
ordinance shall be non-transfer-
able and except a. license for a
day, a week or a month shall
terminate and ^nd on'the 31st day
iof December 1956, but may be re
voked at any time by the Town
Council of the Town of Clinton
on satisfactory cause being shown;
and except license issued for a
. ascertaining the amount of said
licenses shall be ihe amount of
the income, re^eip** or sales for
| the preced mg year ending De
cember 31, 1955. ^
Section 7. That every person,
firm, company 'or corporation, re
quired by this ordinance to obtain
a license to engage m any busi
ness, trade or occupation for
which a license is required, shall
at the time of applying for such
license make a statement under
oath, before an o If leer qualified
to administer oaths, and file said
statement with the Town Clerk
setting forth
(1) r His or her name, style of
firm, name of company or cor
poration.
(2) The trade, business, profes
sion or occupation for which a li
cense is required. ~
(3) The amount of business pro
posed to be done during the cur
rent year and in those cases in
which such information is re
quired, the amount of business
done during the previous year in
the same occupation, trade, busi
ness or profession if the same was
carried on or prosecuted the pre
vious year The Town Clerk shall
thereupon, assess and collect the
proper license tax as provided for
tq this ordinance, and upon such -
tax being paid, shall issue to the
applicant the proper lie

", Section 9 The license taxes
herein imposed are levied for the
purpose of raaftng funds to meet
the annual ordinary expenses of
the Town of Clinton for the fiscal
year commencing the 1st day of
January, 1966, and for the pur
pose of paying" m whole or in part
any legal indebtedness of the said
Town incurred for ordinary ex
penses thereof falling due during
the said fiscal year.
■ Section 10 All annual licenses
must be pa id'on or before March
1. 1966, or penalty of an addi
tional ten" (10%) per cent of
amount herein stated shall be
charged after March 1, 1956. If li
cense is not paid on, or before
March 15, 1966, the business shaH*
be closed by the Chief of Police
and action brought in Recorder’s
Court for Town under Section 4
of this ordinance for, the misde
meanor of .hung business without
license
Section 11 If) any word, clause,
sentence, or section of this ordi
nance be declared unconstitution
al or in contravention of any law
or law's of rbe State of South Car
olina, such shall not * affect any
other word, clause, sentence or
