THE WORLD'S MOST WIDELY USED DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
''Truly. I say to you, as you did it to one of the least
% my brethren, you did it to me." (Matthew 25:40 RSV.)
The story is told, both in prose and poetry, of a cobbler who one
day expected a visit from the Lord. But the day had passed. Now
it was evening, and the cobbler sat, disappointed, in his lonely shop,
which he had cleaned and decorated for the Lord’s coming. Then
came a voice. Three times the Lord had come, it said. He was the v#*
beggar to whom Conrad had given shoes for his bruised feet; the
weary woman, to whom he had given a cup of milk and then taken
home. * '' .
Jesus identified himself with the hungry, the naked, the sick, and
! the imprisoned—those in need. j
Let us s^ize the opportunities to help Christ by helping people
who are in need today—the lonely and discouraged, the sorrowing,
the hungry, the homeless, and ill-clothed, those we have despised
and passed by. Our ministries of love to them are ministries to
Christ Himself.
PRAYER
Open our eyes, our Father, that we may see the *
needs of Thy children. Open our hearts that we may try
to fulfill their needs, remembering, too. that all need to
know of Thee. Open our minds to understand that by
ministering to them in Thy name, we minister to
Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Today I will seek to find new ways to serve Christ. V
