P«C« Eight f THE CLINTON CHRONICLE ^haraday^*wmber^5j^955 Camp Fire Council Annual Meeting; ~~ New Officer Elected The Clinton Council of Camp Fire Girls held its annual meeting and election on Monday evening December 12, at Presbyterian col lege. , Claude A. Crocker, president, and Mrs J. A. Neighbors present ed the report of the nominating committee which was accepted unanimously. A brief finance re port was made by Mr. Crodter and the three districts were represent ed by Mrs. Joe l^and, Mrs. D. H. Roberts and Mrs. William King, who reported on membership and current activities. A good camping session at Paris Mt. was reported by each with special mention of the able ser vice of Mrs. Lonnie Hders for the Kodaka district, and the fine vol unteers from all districts. The ser vices of the registrar, Mrs. Horace Horton, were recognized and it was decided to change the titie to part-time executive director. Mrs. King spoke of the desire of the membership to have the proposed Camp Fire room com pleted in 1956 and the countil ac cepted this as its goal, since an office, library’ and meeting room is very much needed to carry out the activities of the organization. Highlights of the National Con ference held in November in Chi cago were covered by Mrs. Eliz abeth Siddall, regional director. She spoke of the large attendance from the 330 councils in the U. S. with 26 attending from this region and mentioned especially a new rank, which older girls can achieve, Torch Bearer in Religion. Since girls in this region do so much work in their churches, Mrs. Did- dall stated this is especially ap propriate and she hoped to see the'Clinton girts among the first to gain this rank which corre sponds to the God and Country award of the Boy Scouts. The business meeting closed with a unanimous expression of thanks to Tom Addison for serving so well as president for over three years; to Mrs. Hubert Boyd for her long and valuable service as leader and chairman of leaders; to Mrs. Tom Addison for her work in organizing and supporting groups; to Calvin Cooper and Gary Lehn for their fine help on the finance committee. The meeting was followed by refreshments. Officers and board members elected were: President—Claude Crocker. Vice president—W. C. Baldwin. Secretary—Eugene Johnson. Treasurer—K. P. Hamer. College, Hospital Get Ford Grants (continued from page 1) now pendir^;, provided they are approved for listing by the asso ciation. The terms of the grants will place full responsibility on the gov erning authorities of each hospital to spend the funds in accordance with local needs and problems. Use of the funds will be permitted for any program of improvement or extension of hospital service, but not for operating expenses for services currently being perform ed by the hospitals. A particular purpose of the grants would be to assist hospitals desiring to do so to achieve full accreditation with the Joint Commission on Accredi tation of Hospitals.
