J. Lee, of Thom well street, is a patient at Self Memorial hospital. Green wood, suffering injuries received ir an •nitomobile accident several weeks ago. The accident occurred in Whit mire whtn the child’s grandmoth er lost control of the car and struck a telephone pole. Crawford, well known and respected Negro citi zen of the community, died sud denly Saturday, November 26, at his home on West Carolina ave. The funeral service was held Wednesday, the 30th, at Friend ship A. M. E. church, conducted by Rev. E. A. Vance, pastor. In terment was in West View ceme tery in Anderson. Crawford was a Mason, being worshipful master of Constella tion Lodge No. '3, and worhty pa tron of Morning Glory Chapter 191, Order of the Eastern Star. He was district deputy of 4-A, Laurens county. Survivors include one son, William C. Crawford, of Brook lyn, N. Y.; a sister, Hattie Book man, New York; and an uncle, George Crawford, Winston-Sal em, N. C. Crawford was one of the first Negro barbers in Clinton, and was at one time owner of his own barber shop which catered to white trade. In recent years he was engaged in the insurance business and also was employed by Sunshine Cleaners. Crawford loved a parade and managed somehow to work him self into one at veery opportun ity, principally the annual Christmas parades. He was also a favorite among children of the community.
