A Mr. and Mrs. Otis Murphy, Myrtle and Larry Murphy and Mrs. H. M. Willingham spent last week at Elinor Village*at Daytona Beach, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Bemie Davis and Mrs. Delie Russell spent several of the holidays at Cherokee, N. C. Kathy Salters observed her 10th birthday July 1. W. K. Waits was a week-end visitor in Atlanta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Hgrpld Russell and son visited the letter’s par ents, Mr. aftd Mrs. Fred Wilson, in Indiana, and points of inter* est in that state and Canada dur ing the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Murphy spent the week touring the state of Virginia. Miss Fay Gaskin was the guest during the week of .Mrs. Gertie Sinclair in Whitmire. ' • Bud O’Dell spent the week-end in Lando with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Templeton.. John Ross, Mrs. Lavinia Cooley and Miss Rosanne Little were Thursday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Vemer Ross in Greenville. While in Greenville the group visited other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Nabors and Linda Waits of Belton, spent several days at Myrtle Beach during the vacation period. Mr. and Mrs. Tklmadge Long and son, Mike, spent several days at Santee Cooper lake and Myr tle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Waits of Belton, were guests of the for mer’s parents, Mr. and M*s. W. K. Waits for several days last week. Msis Hilda Oxner joined a party of friends from Laurens and spent the week at Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Minnie Lovelace spent last week in Clinton with her sister, Mrs. Sloan Norris, and Mr. Norris. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Salters and children and Miss Jean Rus sell spent their vacation sight seeing at Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Cherokee, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Beden- baugh and daughters spent last week in Atlanta, Ga., with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bedenbaugh. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Temple ton spent last week in Orlando, Fla., visiting with the letter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Rob inson and family. Mr. Robinson is quite ill in the Orlando Sani- torium. Mrs. Templeton’s sisters, Mrs. Mary Emy and Mrs. Mig Pace and daughter, Kathey, of Charlotte, N. C., returned with Mr. and Mrs. Templeton. Mr. and Mrs. James Simpson, Dusty Reaves, Mrs. Annie Lau rie Simpson and George Wright Simpson were'Sunday guests of Mrs. Annie McAbee in Forest City, N. C. Miss Nannie Mae Glenn and Miss Ann McAbee ac companied the Simpsons home for a visit. Mr. nad Mrs. James Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas and childreir spent the first part of the vacation week at Myrtle Beach. Later Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas spent the week-end in Asheville, N. C. Mrs. Ralph Higgins and son, Sherrill, and Mr. and Mrs. Oshen iggins of Newberry, visited Mr. Mrs. Johnny Stroud Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Thomas and Miss Betty Ann Thomas were Friday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Thomas in Charlotte, N. C. Messrs. John Earl Thomas, Buddy Hollingsworth, Jimmy Estes and Kenneth Chalk spent several days at Myrtle Beach last week. Mrs. Clara Payne is spending two weeks in Laurens with her son, Earl Payne, and Mrs. Payne." Curtis Salters joined a group enjoyed a sea fishing trip to of friends from Greenwood and Charleston the latter part of the vacation week. Mrs. L. L. Simpson is visiting her son, Frank Simpson, and Mrs. Simpson in Atlanta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Perry F. Swygert spent several days sightseeing in Florida last week. Mr. and Mrs. Clisby Templetoh and children, &ndy and Judy, were Wednesday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Tamsberg in Char leston. David Loving of Albany, Ga., spent the week-end with Bud White, S-Sgt. and Mrs. Marion Weav er and children of Albany, Ga., are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Weaver and Mr. and Mrs. Preston White. Sgt. Weaver is expecting his port call to sail for England. Mrs. Weaver and children plan to join him later. Mr. nad Mrs. Perry Lee Swy gert and sons were visitors in Cherokee, N. C., for several days last week. Mrs. Cecil O’Dell, Jeff and Sue, joined Mrs. W. E. Holsonback and Mrs. J. C. McLeod and chil dren, Nancy Jane and Deborah and visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Timmerman at Tigerville on Sunday. The entire group en joyed a picnic at Caesar’s Head. Mr. and Mrs. Carson Nabors and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hoover in Leesville Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Willingham and children visited at Chero kee and Asheville, N. C., for several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Franks were called to Knoxville, Tenn., last week due to the death of the latter’s uncle, Sherman Strange. The funeral was held at Newport, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Niver, Jr., and family spent last week in Bluffton with the former’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Niver, Sr. Tommy Davis and Lawrence Young of Clinton, who are at Camp Stewar.t Qe., spent the week-end with Miss Ann Niver. Mr. and Mrs. Rolfe Clark spent several days in Greer with Mrs. W. G. Puckett last week. On Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Puckett and Lumas Puckett enjoyed sightseeing And a picnic at Mount Mitchell, N. C. Rev. and Mrs. P. W. Turner and children enjoyed the week end at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, N. C. Miss Ann Lowman is spend ing two weeks in Macon, Ga., with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Lathrop and son, Bobby, of Aiken, spent the week with Mr. and Mrs. C: L. Wehunt. On Friday Mr. and Mrs. Wehunt and family and Mr. and Mrs. Lathrop enjoyed a picnic at Sesqui state park in Columbia. Miss Peggy Wehunt, student nurse at Columbia hospital, join ed the funily for the day. Mr. and Mrs. John I.' Moore and sons spent last week with the former’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. T. M. Moore in Rembert. Miss Mary McLeod of Rembert, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Moore horn efor a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson spent the week-end in Greenville with Mr. and Mrs. John Lynch. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Atkins spent several days last week at Folly Beach and visited their son, Derrill, at the Charleston Naval Base. Marvin Adair and sons, Billy and Gene Ray, spent their vaca tion at Niagara Falls, N. Y., and Ontario, Canada. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Francis have returned home from a week’s stay in Chicago, 111. Mrs. Mary Lehman and son, Steve, re mained with Dr. and Mrs. George Vasen for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Rushton and children of Edgefield, were Monday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Rushton. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Longshore, Betty Zane and Dianne Long shore, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Domi nick and children spent several days in Roan Mountain, Tenn., and other places of interest dur ing vacation week. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Elliott and children of Georgetown, spnet last week with relatives. Two of their children, Joe and Cavilene, returned home with their parents after spending two months here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Rushton and children and Mrs. Annie Girk joined the Ray Chappells family on Friday and enjoyed a picnic at Lake Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Longshore and Dianne spent the week-end in Fort Mill with the former’s brother, John Longshore and Mrs. Longshore. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Reeder of Norfolk, Va., visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reeder last week. Their son, Kemper, returned home with his parents after spending several weeks with his grandparents. ' Mrs. Homer Echols and Wen- dal Hair attended the watermel on festival at Pageland last Thursday. On Wednesday Mrs. W. W. Hair, Miss Ruth Hair, Wenday and Mrs. Echols were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ol ga Hair in Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Holhon- back were Saturday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil O’Dell. Birth Announcement Burbage Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Burbage announce the birth of a son, James Keith, on July 9 at Jo anna hospital. Mrs. Burbage is hte former Miss Mary Frances Bishop. Attention Please! All children of Epworth Meth odist church children’s depart ment are asked to please notice the trip to Kid’s Korral has been postponed until August 2. This change was necessary due to the all-star ball game telecast which ran over into Kid’s Korral time. Dinner was served picnic style. Mrs. Mae Patterson was dis charged on July 8 after being a patient at Joanna hospital for treatment J. T. Franklin of Rt. 2, Clinton, underwent surgery at Joanna hospital on July 7. Harold Gaines of Kinards, is a patient for treatment at Joanna hospital. Jimmie Haynes, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Haynes, of Rt. 2, Clin- tin, was a patient at Joanna hos pital July 9 through the 11th. To Observe Anniversary Friends of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Adams of Columbia, will be hap py to know they will observe their golden wedding anniver sary July i«. The wedding was solemnized 50 years ago at the Methodist parsonage in Newber ry.
