McMillian will be interested to know he <M left yesterday for the Veteran’s hospital in Columbia for an eye operation. Mrs. J. B. Wilder was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Jacks in Atlanta. , Mrs. E. F. Culbreath of Char lotte, N. C., spent several days last week with her mother, Mrs. O. I. Sheely. Mrs. J. D. Henry and children of Montgomery, Ala., are spend ing some time with her mother, Mrs. H. A. Copeland and other relatives. Dr. and Mrs. S. C. Hays have * returned from a trip to points of interest on the east and west coasts of Florida, and a visit with the former’s niece, Mrs. H. E. Dentzler, and Mr. Dentzler ,in New Orleans, La. Mn. W. C. Baldwin, Mrs. S. B. Loftis, Misses Nannette Loftis and Jean McDaniel attended the ^ Asheville Teachers College luncheon Thursday at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Roy G. Robin son in Greer. Friends of Mrs. Robert E. Wy- sor HI, will be interested to know she has returned to her home from Self Memorial hos pital. Her mother, Mrs. O. O. Owens is spending several months with Mrs. Wysor and children. Ottn Sheely spent the Fburth in Pomaria with his sister. Mrs. B. H. Epting, and other rela tives. Mrs. A. D. Conner of Saudi, Arabia, will arrive today to jit spend some time with her moth er, Mrs. R. M. League. Miss Lillian Dillard spent the week-end at Edisto Island with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Johnson and son, Johnny, are on a trip this week to Washington, D. C., New York City and other points of interest enroute. A. E. McIntosh spent the week end with his daughter, Mrs. R. B. Roberts, and Mr. Roberts in Charleston. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Bolt and children of Dallas, Texas, are visiting the former’s sister, Mrs. Jack Red, and Mr. Red. Also guests of the Reds during the week were Mrs. Loree Sumerel and children of Laurens. Mrs. Milford Smith and daugh ter, Gail, are spending two weeks in Blacksburg with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Slight and daughter, Lilia, of Birmingham, Ala., are guests for several days of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Knox. Jack K. Barnes of Denver, Col orado, spent several days the past week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Barnes. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Turner and children are spending several weeks at Pawley’s Island. They were joined there yesterday by Dr. and Mrs. James Walker who will be their guests for the re mainder of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Knox and children are vacationing this week in the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. Captain H. F. Blalock is spend ing two weeks in training at Camp Stewart, Ga., with the Newberry National Guard unit to which he is attached. Mr. and Mrs. David Trice and daughter, Linda, of Fayetteville, N. C., spent the week-end with Mrs. Trice’s mother, Mrs. Earl Workman, and other relatives. Mr. and Mn. Victor Bowman and children of Alto, Ga., were week-end Visitors of the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mn. S. B. Lof tis. Miss Nannette Loftis accom panied them home. On Monday she led the Baldwin, Ga., school band in the March for Inde pendence Day celebration. Later Miss Loftis plans to attend a baton twirling clinic in Cornelia, Ga., sponsored by the Boy Scouts. Mn. E. Femmer, Lee Femaaer and daughter, Carole Lee, of For est Park, 111., were guests last week of their daughter and sis ter, Mn. Robert W. Andenon, and Mr. Anderson. Mr. and Mn. J. A. Galloway and daughter, Miss Gerry Gal loway are vacationing this week at Jacksonville Beach, St. Au gustine and other points of in terest in Florida. Mr. and Mn. J. A -Aull of Pehdleton, visited the latter’s sister, Mn. J. H. Donnan, during the week. Mr. and Mn. Robert S. Powell attended the Miss Universe State Finals at Camden Friday night. Mr. and Mn. G. R. Bodie, Mrs. O. B. King, Mr. and Mn. James R. White and family, Mn. V. M. Grill, Misses Francine Grill and Billie Walker of Norfolk, Va., and James F. Bodie of Prine- ville, Oregon, have returned to their homes after spending the past week with Mr. and Mn. R. C. Stewart. Mr. and Mn. Harold Copeland formerly of Joanna, are now oc cupying their recently complet ed home near here. Mr. and Mn. R. B. Amick are on a vacation trip to the moun tains of North Carolina and Ten nessee. Mr. and Mn. Tom Gasque of Marion, are spending the week with the former’s brother, J. Roy Gasque and family at their cot tage at Lake Greenwood. Other members of the Gasque family joined them there for the day on Monday. Miss Minnie B. Moore spent the Fourth holidays at her home in York. Mn. Francis V. Smith left 1 during the week for a six weeks stay with her father, Louis Tay lor, and other relatives in New ton, N. J- E. E. Blakely of Washington, D. C., was a visitor here several dgys this week. Mn. Zeno Craddock is visiting her sister, Mn. Joe Burts in Thomasville, N. C., and her daughter, Mn. J. A. Simpson, in McCormick for several weeks. Mr. and Mn. Raymond Wilt shire and . family of Hanford, Cilifomia, were visiton in the home of Mr. and Mn. P. Lewis Pitts during the week. Quinton Chapman of Chatham, N. J., who has recently been on assignment in Norfolk, Va., has joined Mn. Chapman here for a visit with her mother, Mn. J. H. Donnan, and his parents in Mountville. Dr. and Mn. D. O. Rhame and sons are vacationing at Daytona Beach, Fla. They were accom panied by Mn. Rhame’s sister, Mn. James Murrah and Mr. Murrah of Batesburg. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Pitts have returned to their home in Mary Esther, Fla. They were accompan ied home by little Carolyn Burns for a several weeks stay. ciintomans Uo Visit To New York Gty Miss Virginia Sadler returned Sunday to New York after a va cation with her mother, Mn. R. E. Sadler. x She was accompanied by her niece, Sarah Sadler, who will viait her grandparent*, Mr. and Mn. Charles Doherty. Miss Dorothy Crawford also accompanied Miss Sadler and she will spend this week with her sister, Mn. R. M. Stewart, and Mr. Stewart in New York. Mn. Stewart is the former Miss Ida Crawford and their friends will be intreested to know they have returned from attneding the National meeting of the California Texas Oil Co., in Ontario, Canada, and a Bristol Meyen Co., meeting in New Hampshire. Next week Miss Crawford will tour the New England states with her sister, Mrs. Tom Lee and Mr. Lee. Mr. and Mn. B. W. Black and son, Butler, Jr., of Atlanta, spent the week-end with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Black. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burton, of Greenville, were guests Monday of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A Burton. Friends of Mn. George R. Hol land will be interested to know «he is recuperating at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Haglns and Mr. Begins in Abbeville after a serious illness and several weeks stay at Self Memorial hospital. Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Chandler left Sunday for San Francisco, Calif., to visit their son, S-Sgt. Paul A. Chandler, who will receive his discharge at Hamilton Air Force Base on the 12th of July and re turn home with them. Miss Jackie Franks is spending a few days as the guest of the J. W.
