Substitute sweet potatoes for the yams if your family prefers—no matter, but in any case, we’ll bet this interesting recipe will become a family favorite! YAMS IN ORANGE CUPS 3 medium-sized oranges 3 tablespoons brown sugar li cup erange juice (about) la teaspoon salt 2 cups hot mashed cooked yams 14 teaspoon ginger 4 tablespoons butter, melted 1 cup shredded coconut, cut J Cut oranges in half. Squeeze about cup juice. Remove pulp from remaining orange halves. Combine yams, 3 tablespoons of the j butter, orange juice, sugar, salt, ginger, and 44 cup of the coconut Mix well. Fill orange halves with yam mixture. Place in shallow pan and bake in moderate oven (375* F.) about 15 minutes. Mix remaining 14 cup coconut with 1 tablespoon melted but ter. Sprinkle on top of each filled orange half. Return to oven and • bake 2 minutes longer, or until coconut is lightly browned. Makes 8 servings. MIm Spillers Feted Miss Alma Spillers, recent bride- elect was honoree at a party Thursday evening, November 11 at the home of Mrs. J. P. Terry. Places were laid for eight with the dining table overlaid with a white cutwork linen cloth. A cen terpiece of pink and white cama- .ious was flanked by white tapers ih crystal holders. A salad plate with punch was served by Misses Beth Trammell and Susan Terry. Miss Spillers was presented a corsage of pom pom mums and during the evening each guest hemmed a dish towel which were presented to the honoree. Guests wrote favorite recipes in “My Favorite Cook Book” which was also presented the bride-elect. The hostess presented Miss Spillers with an assorted gift of kitchen utensils. Among the guests were Mrk. J. W. Spillers, Mrs. H. M. Rey- olds, Mrs. Joe Campbell and the bride-elect’s grandmother, Mrs. F. B. Bayne of Greenville. Honored On Birthday iR. T. Trammell was honored by his family Saturday evening with a birthday supper. “Uncle Bud” was celebrating his 71st birthday and was remembered with a very useful gift by his children. Camp Fire Workshops Mrs. Elizabeth Siddall, field representative for this area, h£s been holding special and personal conferences this week for discuss ing with thp conusellors of all the jhree districts the various phases and aspects of Camp Fire work. She also held workshops for all the leaders Wednesday afternoon at the Community building as fol lows: Blue Birds—3 o’clock. Camp Fire—4 o’clock. Horizop—5 o’clock. Surprise Farewell Party Mrs. Ruby Burgess and Miss Roberta Chaney were hostesses to {death; also a farewell party for Mrs. David flowers and Miller Saturday night. The guests assembled at the home of Mrs. Burgess. Games were enjoyed during the evening. Mrs. Miller received many useful gifts. Soft drinks, and cookies, were served for refreshments.
