Southern Baptists
To Launch Crusade
fUDOBCRBST. N. C., Aug. 44—
A simultaneous evangelistic cru
sade will be held in some 14,000
Southern Baptist churefees in the
United States next spring, it was
announced at the home missions
conference here Monday.
Dr. C. E Matthews, secretary
of the department of evangelism,
Home Mission Board, Dallas, Tex.,
disclosed that the revivals will be
held in three sections.
“Christ Is the Answer" again
will serve as the theme for the
entire campaign, a two-weeks cru
sade in each church. 'We already
have more churches signed up to
participate in 1965 than in the 1951
campaign," the secretary corftH}-
ued.

Friday evening members of
the Woman’s Missionary Society
of Calvary Baptist church gath
ered with their families at Mary
Lou Ranch where a bountiful
picnic was spread and fellowship
enjoyed. Mrs. M. L. Poole was
presented a piece of china in
her chosen pattern as a remem
brance as they leave our com
munity to make their home in
Greenvjlje. Mrs. Alvin Tram
mell gave the remainder of the
program, telling about the work
in Indonesia.
Mrs. L H. Bagwel concluded
the program with prayer.
A short business session was
held an officers for the coming
year were discussed. The meet
ing was closed with prayer by
Mrs. Ben Campbell and the Nan
Trammell circle, hostesses for
the evening served cookies and
punch. '

ing. Mr. Gilliam is.teacher of this
class and an enjoyable time was

WMS Meets
Monday evening the Woman's
Miskmary Society, held its regu
lar meeting at Calvary Baptist
church.
The meeting was called to or
der by- the president, Mrs Gredy
Smith. Mrs J. W. Fowler gave
the devotional and closed with
a few moments of silent prayer
for our missionaries. Mrs. Ralph
Riddle, program chairman, gave
the introduction to the subject,
“The Children of Indonesia,”'
with several ladies taking part.

tained Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Poole
and daughter, Arletha, and Mr.
rand Mrs. J. H. Sparks, who will
leave the community in the near
future, at a reception given at
the Community building Sunday
evening.
Mr. Sparks, after twelve years
in the community ,is retiring to
reside in Greenwood. Mr. Poole
has accepted a position in Green
ville. These families have meant
much to our church and com
munity and we regret their de
parture.
Guests were greeted at the
door by the members of the choir
and invited into the dining room

centerpiece. Ice cream and cake
were served
