Rowland and Mrs. Blalock served as pages at the'convention. Mrs. Ed Sadler of this city and her mother, Mrs. L. S. McMillan of Laurens, will be in charge of music for the meet ing. Mrs. Robert Powell showed a movie of the Legion “ladies night" held in March. During a social hour sandwiches and cold drinks were served by Mrs. Thomas Jacobs and Mrs. Kay Mills. Mrs. Black Presents Students In Recital Mrs. Robert F. Black presented her piano students in recital Mon day evening at the First Presby terian church. Tall floor baskets of wild azalea were used on the stage. Elsewhere roses and daises were decorative. Following the pro-i gram guests were invited into the parlors where punch and wafers^ were served. The lace covered re freshments table was centered with an arrar^ement of roses and peonies. Daises and magnolia adorned the mantel. Mrs. Pringle Copeland, Sr., Mrs. William Bailey Owens, Mrs. William Brooks Owens. Mrs. J. F. Jacobs assisted Mr. and Mrs. Black in serving and entertaining. Baptist Women Have May Meeting The May meeting of the Woman’s Missionary Society of the First Baptist Church was held on Monday *fternoon of the past week. The Runyan circle was in charge of the program and Mrs. Clark Johnson gave an interesting discussion on “Baptist Schools in South America”. .Plans were made for the revival services June 13-18. The attend ance pin was presented to the Runyan circle. Musical Recital Miss Sumerel’s Pupils The piano students of Miss Maude Sumerel gave their annual spring recital on Friday evening at the First Baptist church. The assembly hall was attrac tive for the occasion with a variety of spring flowers. The piano arrangement was of gladi oli and lilies. At the close of the program Miss Sumerel was assisted in serv ing block cream and cake by Mrs. L. E. Cason, Mrs. F. F. Fowler, Mrs. Leila Johnson and Miss Marion Burts.
