Washington, April 24 — The
status of major legislation at the
end of this week:
APPROPRIATIONS — The
House has passed und sent to the
Senate bills appropriating 5 1-2
billion dollars tat the Treasury,
Post Office, State, Agriculture,
Justice, Interior and Commerce
Departments, the Army Engin
eers, and the “Voice of America”
for the fiscal year starting July
1. None has passed the Senate.
TAXES—A bill reducing some
excise taxes and continuing the
excise tax program generally for
another year has been enacted.
The House has passed and sent
to the Senate a general tax re
vision bill after refusing to in
crease personal exemptions.
LABOR — The House Labor

seven years ago following 'the
birth of my last child. I suffer

attribute to prolapse of or

losis for one year and then ad
vised that the slides had been
mixed up and that I never had
tuberculosis.
“Now I have been told that
al my trouble had been caused
by my nervous system. Dr.
Hart, my husband has spent
everything he has made dur
ing the past 7 years in an ef
fort to find relief. I do hope
that you can help me,” she
continued.
This woman got well of all
the above troubles and gained
enough strength to get a job
and go to work. The cause of
her trouble was found and
corrected by Dr. Hart The
anemic condition and 1 o w
blood pressm* disappeared
very shortly. In fact she never
took another shot to “build
up” the blood. The uncom
fortable bearing down feeling
was soon relieved and cleared
up.

ments to the Taft-Tartley law.
The Senate Labor Committee
has reported out a bill contain
ing its version of proposed
amendments.
CONSTITNTIONAL AMEND
MENTS — The Senate has de
feated a proposed amendment to
limit the President’s treaty pow
ers. A Senate judiciary sub
committee has approved <an
amendment to lower the voting
age in federal elections to 18
years; there has been no House
action on either subject.
SOCIAL SECURITY — The
House Ways and Means Commit
tee is coifeidering bills to extend
social security coverage and in
crease benefits.
POSTAL RATES—The House
Post Office Committee has rec
ommended an increase of one
cent—from three to four cents—
in first class postage.
PAY RAISES—Bills to raise
the pay ot members of Congress,
federal judges, postal workers
and federal employees generally
are pending in the House Post
Office and Judiciary Commit
tees. A bill raising congression
al pensions has become law.
CRIME AND COMMUNISM—
Bills to deprive Communists of
citizenship and to outlaw the
Communist party are pending in
committees. A wire-tapping bill
has been passed by the House.
ST. LAWRENCE SEAWAY —
The Senate has passed and the
House public works conjnaittoe
has approved a bill permitting
the ^United States to participate
with Canada in developing the
St. Lawrence Seaway.
TREATIES — The Senate has
ratified a mutual defense pact
with South Korea; no House ac
tion is required.
Bills financing the military de
partment and the foreign aid pro
gram are being prepared by the
House Appropriations Committee
an dthe House Foreign Affairs
Committee. A bill establishing a
cadet academy for the Air Force
has been signed by the Presi
dent.
