Laurens, Feb. 5—A coroner’s
jury Friday found th^t six-year-
old Talmar Shaw, Jr., who Was
fatally injured Wednesday after-
noon' at the Laurens County
Training School for Colored
Children near Gray Court when
a school bus rah over him, came
to his death “by being run over
by a school bus through negli
gence of the bus driver.”
Willie James Boyd, 18, identi
fied in the testimony as the driv
er of the bus, was lodged in the
county jail immediately after the
inquest on a homicide warrant
taken out by Sheriff W. A. Low
ery.
l^e Shaw child fell out of the
door of the bus about 2:35 p. m.,
as the bus was leaving the school
grounds, rolled under the bus
and had his head crushed by the
right rear wheel, witnesses testi
fied.
Boyd made a voluntary state
ment, declaring that the bus had
gone about six ■'feet when the
child fell out of the open door.
He was slow about dosing the
door, he said, because of a crowd
of children standing on the plat
form.
