Big New York Truck
Goes Over Fill
Near Mountville
A big trailer truck bound from
New York to Los Angeles with 6
1-2 tons of merchandise crashed in
to the bridge at Little River on the
Clinton-Greenwood highway about
two miles north of Mountville Sat
urday night, and then went over a
20-foot fill.
Neither of the two drivers was
injured and the heavily-loaded
truck was pulled out on the high
way by wrecker service late Mon
day afternoon. It was stated that
the truck and contents represented
a dead load of about 25 tons. The
drivers, both from New York, re
mained with the cargo until an
other truck of the Gilbert Carrier
Line arrived for a transfer of the
contents. The truck was loaded
with 1,500 exclusive dresses, ac
cording to the drivers, at a value of
several hundred thousand dollars.
