‘‘Does night driving bother you?”
|This question was put to all drivers
I'by Mr. G. F. Doscher, Jr., president
[of the Motor Transportation Asso
ciation of South Carolina in line with
the Trucking Industry’s Courtesy and
Safety Campaign which dealt
.with Night Driving during October.
Rescue,! “Actually, night driving should
bother drivers because it’s defnitely
no snap, but there are ways to make
it easier,” Mr. Doscher said.
Mr. Doscher pointed out that glare
and reduced visibility are the two
principal problems, in night driving.
To combat glare, Mr. Doscher re-

TRESPASS NOTICE—No hunting,
fishing or trespassing of any kind
on my land or property. T. J. Dav
enport. 4c-Dec. 10
“Few peoplle ^realize how much a
clean windshield reduces glare,” Mr.
Doscher said. “Dirt on your wind
shield reduces glare,” Mr. Doscher
said. “Dirt on your windshield catch
es oncoming light and diffuses it,
making a blinding opaque screen out
of the windshield. For best results, a
windshield should be cleaned both
inside and out. Use a clean rag and
a non-oily cleaner.”
Mr. Doscher also offered these ad
ditional tips for safer night driving.
1. Clean headlight and tail light
lenses at regular intervals.
2. Make sure headlights are work
ing on both beams and are properly
aimed. t
3. Check rear lights at least every
week.
MEASURING BUTTER
If you wish to measure out 1 one-
half cup of butter for cooking, the
easiest way to measure it is to fill
the cup one-half full of water, then
fill the other half with butter.
