G. Hester of Abbeville, were recent visitors of Mrs. Esther Mitchell and Miss Marion Mitchell. Sgt. and Mrs. William Crowell of Fort Bragg, N. C., were week-end guests of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Crowell. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hendrix and children of Habersham, Ga., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Roberts and Mrs. Shir ley Wlison. Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Hutto of Anderson, were Wednesday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson. Pfc. Gordon Quinn has received a discharge at Fort Jackson after serving fourteen months in Korea. ( Mr. and Mrs. Steven Foster and daughter of Charleston, were weekend guests of the latter’s sis ter, MrS. Ralph Childs and Mr. Childs. Messrs. Luther, Richard and Dor sey Turner, Arthur Lawson and Al vin Brewington motored to Miami, Fla., Friday to bring Guy Turner home. Guy has been a patient in a Miami hospital since July. Mrs. Harry Foster and daughter, Teresa, and Mrs. C. W. Windsor attended the funeral of Henry Bauknight in Newberry Thursday. A2c Walter Wilson of Yuma, Arizona, spent the week-end with Mrs. Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Young. Mrs. Wilson and daughter, Debbie, will return with him to make their home in Arizona. Air Police Edgar Young of Sum ter, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Young. Pvt Donald Prather of Fort Bragg, N. C., A2c Bobby Prather of the Azores, spent several days with their brother, Thomas Prather and Mrs. Prather recently. Mrs. Gladys Boyd of Atlanta, Ga., has returned home after sev eral days visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Braswell, Sr., and other relatives. Mrs. Margie Reid and son of Anderson, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Braswell. SA Jerry Milton Boyd has re cently enlisted in the U. S. Navy and is assigned to the Prince ton Aircraft carrier and at present is in San Diego, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. English and son of Montgomery, Ala., spent the week-end with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Riser. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williamson and children of Columbia, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Lusk. Mrs. W. L. Brewer of Gray Court, spent the week-end with her son, R. D. Brewer, and Mrs. Brewer. Mrs. R. L. Littleton is spending several days with her sister, Mrs. Ethel Clamp, who is ill. Mrs. Russell Lawson of Buffalo, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Blackwelder and family of Wilmington, Del,, are spending some time with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Purcell of Toccoa, Ga., were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Cannon during the week-end. D. L. McGee is spending the week with relatives in Western North Craolina. Mr. and Mrs. CaiT motored home with her Sunday and Mrs. Carr remained for the week. Mr, and Mrs. Larry Boozer of Newberry, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tinsley. A. Ad ams Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. S. A .Owens of Gaffney, visited Mrs. D. L. Owens recently. Mrs. H. A. Adams was called to Greenwood Thursday due to the ill ness of her sister, Mrs. Ersula Mc- Cary, who is a patient in Green wood hospital. Mr. Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams visited rela tives there also. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lawson of Buffalo, visited Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Lawson Sunday. Mrs. Emily Lawson of Buffalo, was the Sunday guest of Mrs. Mam ie Easter. Mr. and Mrs. Giles Lawson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lawson, Jr., and daughter, Mrs. Mamie Easter, Mrs. Jack Catan and Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Lawson, Sr., attended the fun eral of the latter’s mother, Mrs. Giles Smith, in Buffalo Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lusk observed a wedding anniversary Sept. 24. Tomorrow is Mrs. R. H. Chilton’s birthday. Richard Overstreet celebrated a birthday October 5. Today is Miss Joan Cannon’s birthday. R. L. Crowell celebrated a birth day Sept. 15. Mrs. Lula Cheek was 95 years old September 26. Claud Abbott celebrated his birthday October 3. Edward Fulmer observed a birth day October 6. Schubert Music Club The Schubert Music club met Monday evening at the Community building. The meeting was called to order by the president and the election of officers was as follows: President—Jackie Franks. Vice-President— Mary Cunning ham. Secretary—Joan Burgess. Assistant Secretary — Donald Power. Treasurer—Margaret Madden. Assistant Treasurer—Cecilia Mc Lendon. Reporter—Bennie Hughey, j* After the business a playlet, j “Regina and the Clock,’’ was given by Janice Goss and Harriet Wilson. The club members brought scrap books in which biographies of well known composers and current! events in the music world were written. Regular time for this meeting will be at 7:30 p. m., the first Motv. day of each month. High Enrollment at Adult School Classes for the Adult school are being held on Monday and Thurs day and also Tuesday and Friday of each week. All who are inter ested are invited come. The general attendance has been remarkably high, it is reported, and all are invited to attend regu- 1 larly. King Reunion Held On Sunday. October 4, the family of the late Edd King held their family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Stubbs. Those en joying the occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Barbery, and daughter, of Greenville; Mr. and Mrs. Wood- dell King and family of Clearwater, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Adams and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus King and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred King, Edd King, Miss Elizabeth King and Mr. and Mrs. James Reynolds and daughter of this city. .... Hobby Club Meets The Hobby club members invite all who are interested to meet with them with several different crafts to select from. Enjoy Birthday Party On Saturday evening Mrs. Joe Strickland was hostess to about 20 1 teen-agers in honor of her daugh ter, Brenda, who was celebrating ; her 13th birthday. Blindfold Maiden, clothespin pick up, drug store, in the well and oth er games were enjoyed during th* evening. Miss Ruth Lowery and Mrs. Frank Lydia assisted Mrs. Strick land in serving the teen-agers. Brenda was remembered with gifts on this happy occasion.
