Mrs. Owen Compton Rigby will return tomorrow to her home in Shreveport, La., after a ten day visit with her niece, Mrs. Kenetnh N. Baker and family. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Crews, Miss Jennie Mitchell and Mac Williams spent the Labor Day holidays at the Crews cottage at Lake Lanier and attended the Apple Festival parade ih Hendersonville, N. C., on Monday. 1 A. E. She was accompan- : ied by her sister, Mrs. Rose Merritt, ! who will spend some time here. Miss Ellen Fraser left Tuesday for Bristol, Tenn., where she will be a student at King college. She : was accompanied by her father, Dr. T. Layton Fraser. Mrs. Darrell Dailey and son, Dee, of Hickory, N. C., are spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Dailey i and with her parents in Laurens. 1 Mr. Dailey was also here for the ' week-end holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Turek of Stonington, Conn., are spending a ' month with the latter’s sister, Mrs. Fred Burnett, Sr., and Mr. Burnett, and other relatives in Spartanburg. Friends of Dr. Dprsey McFadden i of Joanna, will be interested to i know—he- has retuenied to his home ' after an operation at the General i hospital in Spartanburg. ^ j , Mrs. J. D. Jeanes spent the week end in Greenwood with Mrs. G. S. Yeldell and George Yeldell. Mr. and Mrs. David Wagner of Houston, Texas, were recent visitors of her aunt, Mrs. Lewis Bagwell, and Mr. Bagwell. Mrs. Wagner is the former Miss Nell Campbell of ' this city. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert l Vance and children will be inter- j ested to know they have moved into the former W. J. Bailey home cn ' South Broad street. Lt. Henry Burton, formerly of Fort Bel voir, Va., spent a few days leave here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Burton, before going to Fort Benning, Ga., . where he wi’. j receive basic training for the Air borne Engineers. Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Hellams, Jr., are spending several days at the Isle of. Palms. William E. Henry of the U. S. Air Force, is spending a ten day j leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Edward Henry. He is stationed with a tactical control group at Otis I Air Force Base, Mass. Mrs. J. Will Dillard, Mrs. W. C. Shealy, Mrs. M. L. Robertson, Mrs. G. A Burton, with Mrs Oswald ; Copeland of Newberry, spent last Friday in Clover with Mrs. R. L. Wylie and Dr. Wylie. Mr. and Mrs. Joe McMillan and children of Tocoa, Ga., spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. Jodie C. McMillan. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Shealy spent Sunday and Monday in Little Moun- 1 tain and Columbia with relatives. Their friends will regret to know Mr. Shealy’s mother received a broken hip injury in a fall at her home on Sunday. Miss Joan Johnson, daughter of Mjv<and Mrs. J. Karl Johnson, left Tuesday for Winthrop college where jshe will be a member of the fresh man class. Mrs. J. P. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin H. Ford of Avon Park, Fla., arrived yesterday for a visit with the latter’s mother, Mrs. Eugene Hitt. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Copeland on Sunday were Mrs. Grady. Seawright and son, Grady, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Milam and children of Pendleton, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Wilkes and children of Winnsboro. B. Few, teacher of | vocational agriculture ' at Clinton , high school. Cafe Is Nuisance, Warrant Charges Laurens, Sept. 10.—Sheriff W. A. Lowery said yesterday that he had served a warrant on a Waterloo township white woman charging her with operating a public nuisance. He listed the woman’s name as Mrs. Oda Mae Young and said that she was released under $1,000 bond.. The sheriff said she operated a place on the old Greenwod road knowm as Young’s cafe. DR. L. B.
