Boddie Rhinehart is at home after
spending 18 months in Germany.

Mrs. J. D. O’Dell celebrated a
birthday on August 25.

The maid' of honor was Miss Mar
garet Lawrence of Clinton,
by her cousin, Claude Farmer. She
chose for her wedding a light blue
two-piece gabardine suit with match
ing ; hat and white accessories. Her
shoulder corsage was of white carna
tions.
The young couple received in the
foyer of the church.
Enjoy A Christmas Party
The World Friendship Group of
Epworth church under the leadership
of Mrs. Buford Weir sponsored a
Christmas paVfy^last Friday after
noon in the assembly room of the
church. The entire Intermediate De
partment and counselors were in
vited. The party was honoring the
children in foreign lands and each
one present brought a Christmas
wrapped gift. The decorations were
in. keeping with the Christmas sea
son.
Mrs. Weir served assorted sand
wiches, potato chips, party cookies
and iced drinks.
Teen-Age Club Has Hay Ride
The Teen-Age club, the parent
counsel and several invited guests
went on a hay ride to Stomp Springs
Friday night. The group numbered
approximately 45. A weiner roast
with the usual trimmings was en
joyed.

anna hospital following surgery on

Baptist Church Activities
The Carol, Concord, and church
choirs of the Joanna Baptist church
met at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
W. K. Waits on Monday evening,
August 24 at 8 o’clock after choir
practice for a weiner and marsh-!
mallow roast. Mr. and Mrs. Waits
furnished the cold drinks.
On Thursday evening. August 27,
the Woman's Missionary Society of
the church and their families gath
ered at the picnic shelter on Milton
Road for a picnic. After the picnic
lunch, a film on foreign missions
was shown to the group.t
On Friday evening. August 28. the
Junior Department of the Training
Union of the church and their par
ents met at the picnic shelter on Mil-
ton road for a picnic.

Mrs. Lewis Honored
Mrs. John Lewis was delightfully
honored Sunday when her children
gathered at the Itpme of Mr. and
Mrs. Wreford Nabors near Joanna
for a dinner. The occasion was the
honoree’s 70th birthday. Dinner was
served on the lawn picnic style with
the decorated cake centering the
long table. The cake was frosted
in pink and white rosebuds with the
inscription “Happy Birthday Moth
er.’’ Those attending were Mr. and
Mrs. Wreford Nabors and the hon-
oree, Mrs. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Shu-
ford Lewis and sons; Mr. and Mrs.
Otis Lewis and children; Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Lewis and children;

Miss Ginn Honored
Mass Joanne Ginn was honored
wdth a party on her 14th birthday at
her home on Pickens street. The
group of 23 young people enjoyed
indoor and outdoor games which
were directed by Miss Dale Hunni-
cutt. The dining table was overlaid
in a white linin cover and centered
with the bitrhday cake, frosted in
white with red candles and touches
of red in the trimqnings. The cake
w’as cut -and servedNvith party re
freshments buffet style.
Miss Ginn was surrounded by her
friends as she opened the many gifts.
W. S. C. S. To Meet
The Woman’s Society of Christian
Service will meet Tuesday evening
at 7 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Tot
Stewart on the Clinton highway
with Mrs. Johnny Moore, Mrs. Joe
Abrams and Miss Kittie Mae Mosley
as co-hostesses. The program will
be presented by the program chair
man assisted by members of her
committee. The new program ma
terial will be presented and the
theme of the year. A short dramati
zation “A Sower Went Forth” will
be given. All ladies of the church
are invited to join the members of
the W. S. C. S. and go to the Stew
art's home for this meeting. Trans
portation will be provided and the
group is asked to meet at the church
at 6:30 o’clock.
Surprise Party
Master Terry Brown, son of Mr.
and Mrs. James Brown was com
pletely surprised last Wednesday af
ternoon when he arrived at his home
on Browning avenue. A group of
boys and girls had gathered on the
lawn to honor his 9th birtday. Miss
Sandra Salters led the out-door en
tertainment. Mrs. Brown served ice
cream and decorated cake squares to
the 24 young guests.
The honqree received many gifts.
Little Karen Nabors Honored
Monday afternoon, Mrs. Louie Na
bors invited ten small children to
her home on Workman avenue to
honor her small daughter, Karen, on
her third birthday. The little folk
enjoyed a number of out-door games
and were given a package of multi
colored suckers and bubble gum for
favors.
The decorated cake in white and
green with three burning white can
dles was cut and served with ice
cream and iced drinks. The little
honoree was presented with many
gifts.

On August 26, Miss’ Dorothy Carr
underwent a tonsilectomy at Joanna
Memorail hospital.
Master Billy Bishop, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Eugene Bishop was a pa
tient for a tonsilectomy at the local
hospital last week.
