Handsome New Home Lawson Bros. Furniture Co., Joanna

Above is the handsome new store just completed by Lawson Furniture company. Joanna, which announce
their ffrand opening in today’s paper for Friday and Saturday, August 28 and 29.
The new store has 6,200 square feet of floor space, with an additional 3,600 in warehouse space at the rear.
The building is of brick construction with all modern conveniences, including separate toilets for white and
colored, the most modern fluorescent lighting and well insulated for the comfort of their customers. It is so de
signed Mr. Lawson states, that when looking through the windows the entire store can be seen. The enlarged
space. Mr. Lawson states, will enable the firm to carry an enlarged display of furniture and appliances and
to offer their customers better service The firm expresses its appreciation to its customers for past patronage
and will be able to furnish an enlarged and better service in the future. • .

Shower For Mrs. Thomas
Mrs. Robert Thomas was entertain
ed with a shower at the Joanna club
house Saturday evening. The chair
for the hoftoree was beautifully dec
orated and she was presented a
unique corsage. Prizes for various
contests were won by Mrs. Thomas,
Mrs. Roy Rushton and Mrs. Virginia
Hazel. The games were led by Mrs.
Lee Thomas. Refreshments of chick
en salad, potato chips, party mints,
cake squares with fancy decorations
and tea were served. The hostesses
were Mesdames James Thomas, C.
W. Chandler and Nell Alverson.

Miss Betty Jean Norwood became
the bride of S-Sgt. Joe Fowler of
Camp LeJeune, N. C. on August 14,

The bride was lovely in a short
white organdy dress with a full skirt
over taffeta. Her accessories were

with matching ribbon.

Youth Fellowship of the Joanna
church met at the home of Mrs. Ber
tha Stroud Sunday night afer the
worship service with about 40 Inter
mediates and Young People present.
Games were enjoyed by the group
after which refreshments of sand
wiches, potato chips, cup cakes, and
cokes were served.
