were those roads improved out of
appropriations made by the coun
ty delegations from year to year
for the past five years. During the
past four years, he said, the road
improvement program went on at
an accelerated pace. , This year, he
said, the delegation appropriated
$400,000 for continued road im
provement, court house repairs and
for machinery, $200,000 to be spent
this year and $200,000 next year.
He quoted Sen. Ralph T. Wilson
as spying that with the help of
other- members of the delegation
he hopes to see the improvement
plan go on until every school fcus
and mail delivery route will be
surfaced, as well as all roads to
churches and cemeteries, after
which Laurens county will be sec

Tto secretary also quoted Su
pervisor Bennie Blakely as say
ing that baurens county has se
cured by far the most miles of im
proved and hard-surfaced rural
county roads of any county in the
state per total dollars spent. The
county ,the supervisor was quoted
as saying, has pushed the road im
provement program to such an ex
tent since the date of the highway
department’s rigures that it now
has well over 50 per cent of its
farm-to-market roads improved.

Is Hot Weather
Wearing You Down?
Do you feel simply “all in” before
the day’s work is half done? Chances
are the hot weather has taken your
appetite, denying your body the nor
mal food energy it needs as badly
now as any time of year.
Say good-bye to those “Summer
Doldrums” with Scalf’s Indian River
Medicine. This famous family stom
ach tonic has been waking up folks’
appetites for over 50 years. Read the
praises of Miss Natomia Sexton, of
Huntsville, Tenn. . . .
^1 “I suffered terribly
^ : from loss of appetite
with resulting loss of
weight and a tired,
weak, nervous, run
down \ feeling. Most
of the ^Ume I felt too
miserable to work.
Then I beard about
ScalCs Indian River
Medicine and I tried
it. I started at once
eating almost any-
Miss Sexton thing; then before
long I had put on ten pounds of
ranch needed weight. I feel so much
stronger and better that I can do my
work with ease.”
Profit by Miss Sexton’s experience:
see for yourself how quickly Scalfs
Indian River Medicine brings back
mealtime gusto. Resulting nourish
ment supplies vitamins the natural
way—sends new energy surging
through your body. Ask for it today
at your nearest drug store.
