Friends sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. Crocker in the loss of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie Crocker, whose death occurred in Norfolk, Va., Tuesday. The body was brought to Henrietta, N. C., for burial. Miss Imogene Jackson is ill at her home. Mr. and Mrs. James Culbertson and children of Laurens, visited Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Shockley Sun day. Mrs. Pearl Culbertson re turned to Laurens after spending a we$k with Mrs. Shockley. Tony Black is spending the week with his unde and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Black in Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mauldin and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mauldin and baby of Fort Myers, Fla., visited Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hairston near Clinton during the past week. Mrs. Paul Mauldin is spending the month of August here and in Spar tanburg. Mrs. Mary Patterson and Albert Patterson of Spartanburg, were week-end guests of the Hairs tons. Mrs. Lorene Hogue of Lafayette, Ga., spent the week-end with her sister, Mrs. Ralph Doran, and Mr. Doran. Meets The general meeting of the Lydia Baptist church missionary society was held Thursday evening at the church with 19 members, present. Mrs. E. C. Burdette, president, pre sided. The roll was called and minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary. Mrs. Houston Ellis, committee chairman, and .cjrcle chairmen gave reports. After the business meeting an interesting program on “Lifting the Leper” was given by several members of the Omathine Dabbs circle. The meeting was closed with the song, “Open My Eyes That I Might See,” followed by prayer by Mrs. Bur dette. Refreshments of punch and cup cakes were served by circle No. 2. Birthdays and Anniversaries Donnie Fuller will celebrate his birthday August 13. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rice cele brated their wedding anniversary Sunday. Rev. Stanley Hardee, Jr., cele brated his birthday July 30. Carol Parrish will be 7 years old August 9. James D. Hairston; SN, stationed at Pearl Harbor, will celebrate a birthday August 10. William I. Bailey, Jr., will ob serve his birthday August 8. Nora Jane Phipps was two years old July 20. Miss Lilly Belle Crawford will observe her 18th birthday Aug. 13.
