Surprise Party Given
Miss Betty Zane Longshore, daugh-

iher 13th birthday. Parlor games
were led by Mrs. Longshore.
The dining table was overlaid
w’ith a white linen cloth and cen
tered with a decorated cake in green
and white and encircled with pink
rosebuds on the crystal base.
Refreshments of cake and punch
were served.
The honoree received many gifts.

Bragg Family Bereaved
The entire community extends
deepest sympathy to the family of
the late Cager Bragg, who passed
away at his home near Clinton Sun
day. Friends from here attending

Woman’s Club to Meet
The Joanna Woman’s Club will
meet Thursday (tonight) at 7:30
o’clock, August 6th, for their Aug-1
ust meeting. The social hour and re- 1
freshments will be in charge of Mrs.
Arthur League and her group. All
members are invited to attend and
visitors are welcome. ^'
O. E. S. Meets Friday
The local chapter of the Order of
Eastern Star will meet Friday night
in the chapter room at Joanna club
at 7:30 o’clock. All members are in
vited to attend.
Little Boy Has Party
Saturday afternoon at the recre
ation shelter on Milton Road Mrs.
John C. Martin entertained for her
son, Terry on his 6th birthday.
Many games were enjoyed with
souvenirs of party hats given to each
guest.
Mrs. Martin was assisted in en
tertaining and serving by Miss Willie
Mae Murrah, Mrs. Evelyn Daven
port, and Mrs. Joyce Bouknight.
Refreshments of ice cream, cake
and party dainties were served.

Baptis Church Notes
On Thursday evening, the general
meeting of the Woman’s Missionary
Society was held in the recreation
room of the Joanna Baptist church.
An interesting program on “Lifting
the Leper” was presented by the
Frances Watson circle. Mrs. E. J.
Willingham, president presided over
the business. During the social hour,
refreshments of ice cream sand
wiches, nuts, and cokes were served
by the Mable Moorhead circle.
Youth Fellowship of the church
met at the home of Mrs. Karl Seaae
on Sunday night, August 2 after the
evening worship service. A discus
sion of Manners and Personality in
School and Business was held, after
which refreshments of sandwiches,
cookies, and tea were served. Youth
Fellowship will be held at the home
of Mrs. Mason Rowland on Sunday
night, August 9.
About 35 people were present at
an ice cream supper at Greenwood
