Birthdoay Party Enjoyed
Saturday evening Mrs. Dorsey
Turner was hostess to fifteen little
girls and boys on the occasion of
Randy and Marshall T u r n e r’s
birthdays.
Outdoor games under the direc
tion of Miss Nancy Smith, were en
joyed after which the children
were invited into the dining room
where the prettily appointed table,
was centered with a birthday cake
which was cut and served with soft
drinks.
Mrs. Josephine Turner assisted
Mrs. Turner in serving.
Upon departure each little guest
was presented a souvenir and
both Randy and Marshall were re
membered with gifts by each one
present.
Miss Hooper Honored
Miss Billy Dee Hooper, daughter
of Mrs. Ina Bell Hooper, who will
be married tomorrow, August 7,
to Vestus Wehunt t>l Joanna, was
honored with a lingerie shower
Friday evening at the Community
house.
Hostesses were Mrs. Joe Terry,
Mrs. C. W. Wooten, Mrs. R. C. Ox
ner, Mrs. Clyde Fhitnam and Miss
Evelyn Blease.
The club was lovely with floral
arrangements in keeping with a
green and white bridal note. Re
freshments were served buffet
from the long dining table overlaid
with a white organdy cloth over
green with ribbons extending from
the centerpiece of white gladioli
and feverfew. A similar arrange
ment was used on the piano and
wedding bells suspended over the
doorway were a feature of the dec
orations. Guests’ places were mark
ed with white and green wedding
bell place cards at small tables cen
tered with carnations and greenery.
Inside the place cards were games
whidh were later directed by Mrs.
Joe Land who assisted in enter
taining and rendered musical se
lections
To the strains of the’ traditional
wedding march littlfe Joan Burgess
presented the gifts to the bride-
elect. " — —
About fifty guests, including the
following out of town relatives and
friends, were invited for the oc
casion: Mrs Henry Monroe, Mrs.
Helen Wright, Mrs. Murphy Bolt,
and Miss Sadie Coleman, all of
Laurens.
Camp Fire Girls Meet
All three groups of Clinton Mills
Camp Fire girls will meet Monday
afternoon, August 10, at the Com
munity building at 3 o’clock. Beads
and honor awards will be presented
those who have finished ranks.
The girls will also plain an Au
gust social. Mrs. Michael Sholar
will meet with the girls and be in
charge of the social. All girls are
asked to be present at this import
ant meeting. <
TEL Class Picnic Today
The TEL class of Calvary Baptist
church will go to Greenwood state
park this evening (Thursday) for a
family picnic. The class will meet
at the Community building at 7:00
p. m. All members are invited to
go.
Conway Fullar Passof
Conway Fuller, 80, died Friday
night at the home of his son, Er
win Fuller, in Greenwood, after
sceveral months of illness.
Funeral services fere held Sun
day afternoon at the home, con
ducted by the Rev. A. R. Hughes
and Rev. Willis. Burial was in
Lebanon church cemetery near
Greenwood.
He is survived by six sons, Er
win, Jesse, Leslie, Casper and Hen
ry Fuller, all of Greenwood; Jack
Fuller of this city; two daughters,
Mrs. Almena Proctor of Greenwood
and Mrs. Hattie Moates of Joanna;
one sister, Mrs. Nan , Griffin of
Greenwood; one brother, Ewell
Fuller, of the Hurricane commun
ity. ' ^
Loses Brother
Friends of E. E. Cagle will sym
pathize with him in the death of
his brother, Carroll L. Cagle, which
occurred last Wednesday after a
short illness.
