Delightful Surprise
Rev. Ben F. Jones was honored
with a lovely surprise birthday party
at Joanna Club House Saturday
night by members of the Pentecostal
Holiness church. The program was
'opened with appropriate remarks
made by J. J. Whitmire. Music, read
ings and fellowship were enjoyed
prior to the serving of dinner. Rev.
Jones received numerous gifts.
Bridges - Bishop
The Joanna Baptist dhurch was
the scene at 4 o’clock on July 26
of the wedding of Miss Sara Joan
Bridges and James Robert Bishop,
Jr. at which the Rev. James B.
Mitchell officiated, using t h e
double ring ceremony.
The vows were spoken before a
background of 7 branch candlelabra
holding lighted tapers, tall stately
palms and ffloor length baskets of
white gladioli interspersed with
old Darnell, Bernie Davis, Walt Ful
mer, Freeman Evans, Winfield Bish
op, Barron O’Shields, Julian Hun-
nicutt, Harold Russell and George
Walter Fulmer.
Master Sergeant James Byars,
home on leave from Korea, has re
ceived his orders to report to Fort
Hood, Texas, August 16. Mrs. Byars
and small daughter, Kim, plan to
ioin him as soon as possible.

The bride’s only attendant was

groom. She wore an ankle length
gown of lavender satin with an over
dress of lavishly embroidered match
ing organdy and a tulle stole. Her
bouquoet was of two shades of
purple asters tied with pink satin
ribbon.
The flower girl was little Donna
Force. She was dressed in white 1
satin and lace with dainty blue rib- 1
bons about the waist and a small
arrangement of blue forget-me-nots
for her hair. She scattered flower
*’ petals from a basket of net and nar
row ribbons.
The bride was given in marriage
by her father, Hosia Bridges. She
wore a gown of white nylon tulle
with inserted bands of lace and a
full skirt. A lace bolero with Peter
Pan collar, self covered buttons and
sleeves ending in calla lily points
was worn over the tight fitted bodice.
Her fingertip veil of imported il
lusion was held by a lace halo en
crusted with seed pearls. She car
ried a white satin Bible topped with
a white * orchid and showered with
satin ribbons.
