fall. He graduated from Whitmire
high school June 1. The Strouds
are former residents of Whitmire.
Pentecostal Bible School
Vacation Bible school will begin
Monday afternoon, June 22, and
will run through July 3 at the Ly
dia Pentecostal Holiness church.
The hours are from 5 o’clock until
7:00. Rev. R. R. Patrick is pastor
of the church. •

On Sunday evening the congrega
tion of the Church of God on Eliza
beth street enjoyed a program of
Gospel singing by the Kingsmen’s
Quartet of Greenville.

The. Pentecostal Holiness church
had as their guest speaker Sunday
Rev. T. H. Pearce, formerly of North
Carolina but now making his home
at Lydia. Rev. Pearce is filling the
pulpit while Rev. J. A, Williams,
pastor, is on a two week’s vacation.

Friends of Mrs. J. D. Word sym
pathize with her in the death of her
mother, Mrs. Ellen Cordell Reid in
Whitmire last Wednesday. Funeral
services wree held at the Baptist
church Thursday with burial serv
ices here in Rosemont cemetery.
Camp Fire Girls
The Ot-Zo-Kwa group of Camp
Fire girls have completed their mem
ory books containing all crafts done
for the third rank. This afternoon
(Thursday) the* group will entertain
some members of the Blue Bird club
with a swimming party and picnic.

Charles W. Powell Passes
Charles Walker Powell, &8, died
suddenly Wednesday night at his
home on Marion street after several
months declining health.
He was a native of Pickens county
but had made his home in Greenville
most of his life. For the past two
months, he had lived in Clinton.
Surviving are one son, S. B.; one
daughter, Mrs. Gladys Kellett, Clin
ton; and one sister, Mrs. Ollie Dem-
ham, Greenville.
Funeral services wer....e conducted
Saturday afternoon at Gray Funeral
home by the Rev. J. W. Spillers. Bu
rial was in the Pelzer cemetery.
