Correspondent and Representative Miss' Carolyn Thomas of Ander son college is at home for the sum mer. Carolyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mcr.s. Edwin Thomas. Mrs. Grace Tinkler of Rock Hill, spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Estes. Miss Ruth Hair left Wednesday night for Washington, D. C-, and spent several days with Miss Bar bara Wheeler. Miss Hair enjoyed visiting the many points of interest in Washington and returned Sun day night. Miss Mildred Bozard, Mrs. P. B. Mitchell. Mrs. Nathan Brazel and Mrs. Betty Robertson attended a filing school at.lhe^ Poinsett hotel in Grenville Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Galloway, Bud and Joe Galloway of Trenton, were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs. arold Murphy. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Wil- i bum on Monday was the former’s niece, Mrs. Leo Hansman and Mr. Hansman of Chicago, 111. Mrs. Annie L. Simpson recently i spent the week-end in Whitmire with Miss Sallie Mae Franklin. Mr. and Mrs, Marion Hair of Monroe N. C., were Thursday guests of Mrs. W. W. Hair. Charles Franks and small daugh ter, Kathy, of Columbia, spent last week with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Claude Franks. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Holsonback of Newberry, visited Mr. and Mrs. C. R. O'Dell Sunday. Mr. and Mrs, Clyde Atkins visit ed the former’s mother, Mnf. An na Atkins, in Gaffney Sunday. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Dunlap were Mr. and Mrs. C D. Jerry Gaskin of Fort Mill, visited relatives here Sunday. Mrst J. F. Lowman and Ann guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Pra- j ter. Mr. and Mbs. Clifford Caldwell visited relatives in Whitmire Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Wilburn at tended a family gathering at the home of the latter’s brother, Roy Smith, and Mrs. Smith, near Ware Shoals recently. The occasion was honoring their mother, Mrs. J. J. Smith, of Clinton, on her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Jameson and daughter and Mrs. Jameson of Greenville, were Friday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Algie Ab rams. Mrs. W. W. Hair spent the week- end in Newberry with her daugh ter! Mrs. Hoyt Nobles, and Mr: Nobles. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Norris and! children visited Mr .and Mrs. David 1 Marshall in Greer Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Longshore, Dianne and Betty Zane, visited Mtes’rs. James Alewine and J. C. Longshore in Silverstreet and New berry Sunday. Little' Gayle Craven is spending a few days with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Craven, in the Bush River community Birthday Supper Monday evening Miss Jeanette Bragg honored R. B. Smith of Lau rens with a supper at her home on Marion street, the occasion being Mr. Smith’s birthday. Mixed sum mer flowers were used at vantage points throughout the party rooms. Places were laid for six. The cake with burning candles was used as a centerpiece for the lace covered table. The guests honored were R. B. Smith, Miss Edna Henderson, Janies Madison and Mack Nelson of Lau rens and Miss Shirley Tumblin of C'inlw. Graduating Exercises For 'Lowman spent the week-end in Chapin with Mrs. fcowman’s sister, •Mrs. J. H. ^Chapman and Mr. Chap man. Mrs. Eunice Rikard and son. Benjy, of Batesburg, were Sunday School of Nurses Monday evening the graduating exereises for the school of nurses of Columbia hospital was held at the First Baptist church in Columbia. Those attending from Joanna were Mrs. Pete Evans, Mrs. J. K. Sease, Mrs. Harry Price, Miss Helen Evans, Mrs. William Boyd, Mrs. Nathan Brazel, Miss Bonnie Pitts and Mar vin Smith.
