Jackson Taylor Honored
On last Tuesday evening at 5
o’clock co-workers in the lab de
partment, with Joe Delaney as in-'
vited guest, honored Jackson Tay
lor as he was to leave the follow
ing day for service in the armed
forces. Mrs. Taylor of Newberry,
joined the group. A buffet supper
was served consisting of chicken
salad, cheese biscuit, deviled eggs,
potato chips, pickles, assorted sand-
wicbes, cup cakes and iced tea.
The honoree was presented a
handsome tan leather service man’s
personal kit as a going-away gift.
Mr. Taylor has served as a mem
ber of the lab department for 3
years and his friends say good
bye regretfully. He is reporting
to Newport, R. I.

Club Meeting Postponed
The Joanna Woman’s club will
postpone their May meeting until
May 14 due to the revival at Ep-
worth Methodist church. Members
are asked to note the change of
date. 1
Attends Youth Rally
Thirty-four young people and
adult workers attended the_ mass
youth rally at Main Street Metho
dist church in Greenwood Satur
day night. It was a district meet
ing with a large atendance.
The group enjoyed supper at
Blazer’s on Greenwood lake en-
route to the meeting.
May Day Party
Miss Helen Phillips, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phillips, was
maid of honor to the queen at the
North Greenville Junior college
May Day celebration Saturday.
She wore a gown of fuschia net
and lace and carried a nosegay cen
tered with a lavender orchid.
Miss Joanne Thompkins, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Thomp
kins, took part in a group of Ger
man girls in a skit, “Come Let Us
Be Joyful.”

Youth Fellowship Meets
Youth Fellowship met in the ed
ucational building of the Joanna
Baptist church Sunday evening af
ter worship service. A discussion
on love, courtship and marriage
was led by LeGrande Shealy, with
everyone entering into the discus
sion.
Refreshments of sandwiches, po
tato chips, cookies, and cokes were
served by Mrs. Marion Boyce.

Lee Thomas ip the passing of their
infant son, Hairy Lee Thomas, Jr.,
on April 30. Graveside services

hospital.
