Foundation Banquet
The annual banquet of the Jo
anna' Foundation was held at Jo
anna qlub last Thursday evening
with approximately 100 guests
present. Those attending the af
fair were former directors, present
and new directors and their guests.
The banquet tables were lovely,
decorated in arrangements of early
spring flowers in silver and an

white dogwood were used at van
tage points. Mr. and Mrs. Julian
Bolick did the decorations and dur

Appropriate remarks were made
by Walter Regnery, vice-president
of the Joanna plant; J. L. Delaney,
superintendent of the plant, and J-
B. Hart, treasurer. Mr. Hart an
nounced the coming of Miss Thel
ma Waller of Spartanburg, to the
staff of the Foundation. Miss Wal
ler will begin her duties with the
women and girls activities at the
club house on June 1.
Louis Murphy, a member of the
original board of directors, made
the awards of appreciation of which
were»gold pen and pencil sets to
the four retiring members of the
board. They were Mrs. Frank
Phillips, Messrs. J. L. Abrams, Mil
lard Murphy and Mason Rowland.
The incoming directors are Mrs.
Arthur Teague, Messrs. Carl
zen, Elmer Bennet and Glenn Carr.
A turkey dinner was prepared
and served by the Joanna Woman’s

ning at the Greenwood state park.

Methodist Ladies Meet
At the April meeting of the
Woman’s Society of Christian Ser
vice 28 meanbers and one guest
were present. The meeting came
to order yrith the group singing
“I need Jesus.” Mrs. Algie Ab
rams gave the evening prayer.
Routine business w^as taken up
and reports of the various commit
tees were given. The highlights
of the district meeting in Green-
wod were given by Mrs. Lavinia
Cooley and Mrs. O’Dell, the presi
dent. The society voted to con
tinue their support of the Louise
Best misionary fund. The group
acepted the responsibility of pre
paring and serving the Fellowship
