in Spartanburg Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. James Ammons and
Walter Campbell attended the PC-
Wofford basketball game in Spar
tanburg Saturday.
Mrs. H. W. Williams visited her
mother, Mrs. W. W. Ball, in Green
ville recently. Friends will be in
terested to know Mrs. Ball is im
proving after being seriously ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davenport and
children were Sunday guests of
their daughter and son-m-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Shealy in Greenville.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gaffney
and Mack were visitors in Green
wood Sunday.
Mrs. Lehta Rhodes and Mrs. C- E*
King honored their daughter and
sister, Mrs. Floyd Emvy, with a
surprise birthday dinner at the
home of Mrs. King. Only the im
mediate families were present at
this enjoyable occasion. Mrs. Em
ory received several gifts from the
family.
Mr. and Mrs. E W. Mitchell and
daughters, blisses Joyce and Mar
garet Mitchell, were Sunday dinner
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Meadors in Clinton.
Mrs. Ray Ridgeway has joined
A2c Ridgeway at the Chanute Air
Force Base, Illinois. Mrs. Ridge
way was before marriage Miss Bob
bie Caldwell.
Mr. and Mrs. George Masspy
were Monday supper guests of Mr.
and Mrs. B. R. Boozer.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy South and

returned to their home in Charlotte,
N. C-, after spending the week with

Sgt. Fitzhugh Thornburg of the
March Air Force Base, Calif., is-
spending a two-weeks leave with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. f. L.
Thornburg.
Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby
Boyce will be interested to know
that since Mr. Boyce received his
discharge from the army he has ac- j
cepted a position at Glendale. They j
will reside in Spartanburg.

Woman's Club Meets
The Lydia Woman’s club held its
regular meeting Thursday night in
the Community center. Mrs. R. E.
Whitmire, vice-president, presided
over the business meeting. “Lydia
Sisters” were selected for the com
ing year. The theme for the month
was Flower Arrangement, and Paul
Baker and Frank White of the
Coca-Cola company of Greenwood,
presented a movie pn,the subject.
They also served drinks to the
group.
Miss Clyde Smith, program di
rector, had charge of the program.
Hostesses for the evening were:
Mrs. Ralph Harbin, Mrs. Harold
Hairston, Mrs. Harold Blackstock
and Mrs. Jim Bailey.
Kindergarten Program
The lone Wallace Kindergarten
had charge of the program in the
auditorium of Providence school
Friday morning. The following
program was given: Devotional,
The Story of Jesus, by Johnny Lan-
ford. A play-story, “The Happy
Family,” with Sue Word, J. W*
Davis, Laura Smith, Tonita Harvey,
Claude Grady, and Peggy Grady
taking part. An Irish song, “Where
O Where,” by the boys’ quartet,
Claude Grady, J. W. Davis, Harvey
Shumate and Donald Osborne.
Several numbers were played by
the Rhythm Band.
