Land of Fairmont, ^visited the Pattersons Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Boozer visit ed Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Coates in Laurens Sunday. 1st Lt. and Mrs. J. H. Drake, with their infant daughter, Connie, of Melbourne, Fla., are visiting the former’s mother, Mrs. H. W. Wil liams and Mr. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Bradley-were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Pruitt in Spartanburg Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Ammons and Walter Campbell attended the PC- Wofford basketball game in Spar tanburg Saturday. Mrs. H. W. Williams visited her mother, Mrs. W. W. Ball, in Green ville recently. Friends will be in terested to know Mrs. Ball is im proving after being seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davenport and children were Sunday guests of their daughter and son-m-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shealy in Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gaffney and Mack were visitors in Green wood Sunday. Mrs. Lehta Rhodes and Mrs. C- E* King honored their daughter and sister, Mrs. Floyd Emvy, with a surprise birthday dinner at the home of Mrs. King. Only the im mediate families were present at this enjoyable occasion. Mrs. Em ory received several gifts from the family. Mr. and Mrs. E W. Mitchell and daughters, blisses Joyce and Mar garet Mitchell, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meadors in Clinton. Mrs. Ray Ridgeway has joined A2c Ridgeway at the Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois. Mrs. Ridge way was before marriage Miss Bob bie Caldwell. Mr. and Mrs. George Masspy were Monday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Boozer. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy South and son, Mrs. Leroy South, J. W. South and Mrs. Hannah James spent Sum- day in Whitmire with Mrs. Julia James. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Winiam Campbell of Pelzer, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ram sey of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Walker and Bruce of Pied mont, were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Abercrombie Sunday. Hoyt Harrvey was a visitor in Summerville Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Barbee were guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Mc Manus the past Thursday. Friends of Paul Arnold and Toy Arnold sympathize with them in the loss of their father and brother, A. A. Arnold. His death occurred Friday night.# Mrs. H. H. Dalton and Rev. and Mrs. Pierce visited Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Puckett in Whitmire Sunday. Mrs. W. E. Johnson is spending the week with her son and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl John son, in Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bodie visited the latter’s toother, George Brock, and-Mrs. BqfPc, in Newberry Sun day. . Mr. and Mrs. James Smith and family of Spartanburg, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barbee and Brenda of Madison, Ga., Mrs. Georgiy Gunter of Chester, and Mrs. M. C. Smith of Laurens, visited Mr. and Mrs. D. D. McManus during the week-end. Mrs. Jimmy Cobb and son have returned to their home in Charlotte, N. C-, after spending the week with her mother and sister, Mrs. W. E. Johnson and Miss Mary Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kay and daughter of Pendleton, were week end guests of M^, and Mrs. Carson Neal. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harbin and children and Mrs. Harold Black- stock and Betty visited Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Bray in Greenville Sun day.* Sgt. Fitzhugh Thornburg of the March Air Force Base, Calif., is- spending a two-weeks leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. f. L. Thornburg. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Boyce will be interested to know that since Mr. Boyce received his discharge from the army he has ac- j cepted a position at Glendale. They j will reside in Spartanburg. Boys' Organisation To Meet The RA’s of the Lydia Baptist church will meet tonight at 7:00 o’clock at the church. All boys 9- 16 years of age are invited. Marvin Harvey and A. M. Shumate are counsellors. Birthdays and Anniversaries Roger Whitmire will be 10 years old March 7. Miss Helen Black and Mrs. Ruby Horton have ^ birthdays March 10. Wayne Deitz will celebrate his 13th birthday March 9. Grover Jackson will observe a birthday March 12. Mr. and Mrs. James Ammons celebrated their 5th wedding anni versary March 3. Billy Oakley will celebrate his birthday March 10. Also Clyde Smith, Sr. Woman's Club Meets The Lydia Woman’s club held its regular meeting Thursday night in the Community center. Mrs. R. E. Whitmire, vice-president, presided over the business meeting. “Lydia Sisters” were selected for the com ing year. The theme for the month was Flower Arrangement, and Paul Baker and Frank White of the Coca-Cola company of Greenwood, presented a movie pn,the subject. They also served drinks to the group. Miss Clyde Smith, program di rector, had charge of the program. Hostesses for the evening were: Mrs. Ralph Harbin, Mrs. Harold Hairston, Mrs. Harold Blackstock and Mrs. Jim Bailey. Kindergarten Program The lone Wallace Kindergarten had charge of the program in the auditorium of Providence school Friday morning. The following program was given: Devotional, The Story of Jesus, by Johnny Lan- ford. A play-story, “The Happy Family,” with Sue Word, J. W* Davis, Laura Smith, Tonita Harvey, Claude Grady, and Peggy Grady taking part. An Irish song, “Where O Where,” by the boys’ quartet, Claude Grady, J. W. Davis, Harvey Shumate and Donald Osborne. Several numbers were played by the Rhythm Band.
