Bermuda Planter
The Laurens County Soil Conser
vation District received delivery on
their new automatic ibermuda sprig
planter the past week, according to
FINAL SETTLEMENT
Take notice that on the 13th day
of March, 1953, I will render a final
account of my acts and doings as
Administrator of the estate of Salin
F. Roddy in the office of the Judge
of Probate of Laurens County, at 10
o’clock aJm., and on the same day
will apply for a final discharge
from my trust as administrator.
Any person indebted to said es
tate is notified and required to
make payment on or before that
date; and all persons having claims
against said estate will present
them on or before said date, duly
proven, or be forever barred.
PHILLIP L RODDY,
Administrator.
Feb. 13, 1953. 12-4cw
Ryan F. Lawson, chairman.
The new planter is a tractor .pulled
implement that does the complete
job—opens furrow, spaces spribs,
spreads fertilizer, closes and packs
furrow. »
There is considerable interest
among cattle farmers of the county
in planting Coastal Bermuda grass
this spring. The District is assisting
interested fanners in getting up a
cooperative order of the new grass
sprigs, and have already “received
orders for over five hundred (500)
bushels. ,
Several farmers are planning to
plant a “mother” or nursery patch of
the grass from which to harvest the
sprigs to increase plantings on their
own farms and also, for sale to oth
ers.
The new planter will be available
to farmers on a per acre basis
charge. The District Supervisors
have not set the charge at this writ
ing but will do so at an early date,
Mr. Lawson said.
Mr. Lawson said further, “we are
not interesed in making money from
the planter but we are interested in
conserving soil and water. Bermuda
grass is one of the best known plants
for this job, as well as one of the
best known pasture grasses.”

natural quality. It is the world's
only natural source of nitrate
nitrogen.
The nitrogen content of Chilean
Nitrate is 100% nitrate nitro
gen — 100% available — 100%
fast-acting—100% dependable.
No antidote is necessary. Chil
ean Nitrate is non-acid forming.
Rich in sodium and minor ele
ments. Chilean Nitrate is rich
in beneficial sodium that makes
a stronger, deeper root system
— improves 1 crop health, vigor
and nutritive value. It also
contains small quantities of es
sential minor elements.
Chilean Nitrato is ths ONLY
fertiliser that supplies ni
trate nitrogen, beneficial
sodium and ^sential
minor elements.
Chilean Nitrate's free flowing
pellets guarantee rapid, accu

needed. ' 1 -
Helps maintain productivity of
your land. When used consist

Last year Southern Bell installed 14,561
net additional telephones in South Caro

State to 228,878.
Y Some of the added telephones are
right here in this Community. You
probably know some of the new sub

That’s why telephone progress means
something to you. As more telephones
are added, you can get in touch with
more people you know and more people

increases in usefulness and value to you.
