J. C. Wingo. The wedding will take
place in the spring.
Dessert Bridge
Given For Club
A dessert bridge was given Tues
day afternoon by Mrs. Rufus Sad
ler for members of her bridge club.
In a setting of greenery and red
tapers and other appropriate ap
pointments for the new year two
tables were laid for refreshments. A
sweet course and coffee was served
prior to the games. Score awards
were won by Mrs. Pringle Copeland
and Mrs. Harry McSween.
Sumerel Wedding .
Party Entertained
Before the wedding rehearsal of
Miss Betty. Jean Sumerel and Ervin
Shook, Misses Maude and Virginia
Sumerel entertained the wedding
party with a supper at Hotel Mary
M^isgrove.
White gladioli, candles and green
ery were effectively used on the
tables.
A three course dinner was served
to the guests.
Friends Invited
For 'Drop In' Party
On last Tuesday Miss Cornelia
Harris entertained a few friends
with an informal “drop in” at her
home on Centennial street.
Pine, magnolia leaves and red
candles adorned the mantle, while
holly, pine, and mistletoe were used
elsewhere.
Guests were invited into the din
ing room for refreshments. Center
ing the table was a candelabra with
sprays of magnolia, gold balls and
sprays and red bows placed at in
tervals. Mrs. S. G. Dillard poured
coffee.
Dunlap-Brockenbrough
Engagement
Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Thomwell
Dunlap announce the engagement of
their daughter, Mildred Harris,
and George Burnett Brockenbrough,
son of Mr. and Mrs. George H.
Brockenbrough of Kinards. The wed
ding will take place at 5 p. m., Jan
uary 31, at the First Presbyterian
church of this city.
Party Given On
Chistmas Eve
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Baker, Mr.
and Mrs. J. B. Hart entertained on
Christmas eve for their sons, Ken
neth, Jr., and Carroll and a number
of their friends with a nine o’clock
buffet supper, at the Baker home.
A reflected arrangement of poin-
settias complimented by red candles
fashioned the centerpiece for the
supper table while elsewhere other
Christmas appointments were decor
ative. Twenty-six guests were in
vited for the occasion.

urday for the wedding of Miss Win
ifred Gaines, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Edwin Gaines and
Jaimes Richard Gray of Anderson
which took place at 5:30 at the First
Baptist church.
Mrs. James Slom served as her
sister’s matron of honor and Miss
Mary Gaines of Spartanburg, for
merly of Clinton, was a bridesmaid.
The young couple will make their
home in Anderson where Mr. Gray is
connected with an architectural Arm.

Canasta Party .
For Young People
Monday afternoon of the past
week Mrs. Kenneth Baker enter
tained about fifteen friends for her
daughter, Anne, with a canasta
party.
Traditional holiday decorations
made a pretty background for the
tables. After the games a salad plate!
was enjoyed, and Ann remembered
each guest with a Christmas pack
age. Miss Martha McMillian was
winner of the bingo prize.
Miss Rosanna Campbell, of Co
lumbus, Ohio, who was here for the
holidays, was a guest for the’party..

anthuriams from Hawaii adorned
the dining table. Throughout the
other receiving rooms gladioli and
carnations were used in decoration.

mints were served buffet, a white
and silver motif was effective. The
table, which was centered with gar
denias, was appointed with white
tapers in silver candelabra and the
pilver service.
