Camp Fire Girls
The Wahanka goup of Lydia
Camp Fire girls were given a
Christmas party Tuesday by their
I j leader* Mrs. J. B, Templeton and
assistant leader, Mrs. Martha
Bailey.
The group enjoyed Christmas
games and a Christmas tree under
which were gifts for all.
Refreshments of ice cream, cake
and candy were served.
Card Party For
Camp Fire Group
Mrs. Michael Gussie was hostess
on Wednesday afternoon of the
past week to ten Camp Fire Girls,
members of her daughter, Michele’s
group, for a card party.
The home was gaily decorated in
a Christmas motif which also pre
vailed in the refreshments which
were served during the afternoon.
Kay Thomas won the prize for the
j card games.
j Teen-Agers Have
I Square Dance
Friday evening Don Rhame en-
j tertained about forty of the teen-
j age group with a square dance at
‘ the Legion Hut.
Evergreens with' candles added
i attractiveness to the setting. The
mantel which had a background of
green was colorful with Christ
mas cards. Dr. and Mrs. Rhame
were assisted in entertaining by
Allen Johnson who called for the
square dancing. During the eve
ning, sandwiches^ bottled drinks
and cup cakes were served.
Blue Birchs Enjoy
Christmas Party
Monday afternoon Mrs. Hubert
Boyd, leader, entertained the Tulip
group of Blue Birds with a Christ
mas party at her home on Walnut
street.
Mrs. Boyd told the Christmas
story' and they joined in singing
carols. A feature of the decorations
was—the- manger scene.-* “Birth"'Of
Jesus.” A traditional holiday motif
was used and- gifts were exchanged
from a lighted tree. Each Blue Bird
also brought a toy for ah under
privileged child. The refreshment
table was adorned with “whisper
ing angels” which tinkled when the
candles were lighted. This scene
placed on a reflector was encir
cled with holly.
Buffet Supper
For Bride-Elect
Honoring Miss Betty Jean Sum-
erel whose wedding takes place
Sunday afternoon, Miss Mildred
Dunlap entertained with a buffet
supper on Wednesday evening of
the past week at her home on the
Mountville highway.
White chrysanthemums were
j beautifully arranged for the sup-
; per table in a wedding ring motif
; which was also carried out in sal-
1 a d molds and other party dainties.
Pom-poms, mums and snapdrag
ons fashioned other bouquets in
green and white for the home.
After supper cards were played.
The honoree was presented a cor
sage and a gift of crystal.
Christmas Program
Presbyterian Women
The December meeting of the
j Women of the Church of the First
I Presbyterian church was held on
1 Monday evening at the church.
Mrs. Frank Cauley had arranged
the program at the conclusion of
which the annual joy gift for re
tired and,,aged ministers was taken.
Mrs. Cauley was assisted by Mrs.
Harry Nettles who gave the devo
tional, Mrs. Jasper Rowland who
gave a Christmas story. Mrs W. Y.
Thompson accompanied at the
piano by Mrs. Harry McSween
sang two appropriate solos.
A playlet having as a setting a
pastor’s study was given by Doug
Blanton, Mrs. Frank Kellere, Mrs.
John H. Hunter, Jr, and Mrs. Ed
Walters.
Later refreshments were served
in the parlors The table overlaid
with a green cover held candles
and greens with a church scene.
For the occasion a church scene,
candles and wreath -were effective
in the hall and meeting room.
Methodist Woman s
Society Meets
The Woman’s Society of Chris
tian Service of Broad Street Meth
odist Church met Monday at the
church with Mrs. E. K. Garrison,
presiding. Mrs. Nene Workman
played “O Little Town Of Beth
lehem.” After reading the scrip
ture, “Blessed are the meek, for
thy shall inherit the earth”, Mrs.
i-- S. Reddick led the devotional
with a poem, “Salute The Happy
Mom.” Mrs. Billy McMillan then
told of Christmas in Japan and
Mrs. Cal Chaney described Christ
mas in Puerto Rico and in Ohio.
Mrs. Billy Pitts gave the story of
“An Open Door, and "A White
Gift.” This service was closed with
a prayer.
A short business meeting was
then held.
Bank Employees
Feted With Party
.. Employees of M. S. Bailey and
Son, Bankers, their husbands and
wives, were entertained with a
j Christmas dinner party on Tues- j
I day evening at the Hotel Mary
Musgrove.
A Christmas tree, blanked on
either side by a smaller tree made
a colorful arrangement for the
buffet table. Four small tables
w’ere appointed for the sixteen
guests. Each table was centered
with a miniature tree and after
supper a contest was held for the
prettiest decorated tree. Several
games and other contests were en
joyed and carols sung during the
i evening.

For Kiwanis Club
"Ladies Night"'
In a beautiful and appropriate
Christmas setting the annual
i “ladies night” party of the Clinton
I Kiwanis club was given last Thurs
day evening at Hotel Mary Mus
grove.
For the occasion the banquet
1 room was decorated with garlands
of evergreens and a tree arrange
ment. Red tapers, in white holders,
greens with bright berries adorned
the tables. A program, “Menu of
Fun” in holiday colors was present
ed the guests in keeping with the
night club motif. A four course
banquet was served.
W. C. Baldwin president, presid
ed and guests of the club and mem
bers were introduced. J. C. Thom
as, newly elected president was
-.recognized during the evening.
The program for the evening un-‘
der the direction of Mrs. lone Wal-1
lace, who acted as master of cere
monies, w’as varied and entertain- i
ing with the following taking part;:

ticipating were enjoyed and “Santa
! Souvenirs” were presented the

West Circle Presents
Unique Program
Mrs A. B. Loftis was hostess to
the West Circle on Tuesday eve
ning. Recordings of Christmas car
ols were played as guests gathered.
The assembly room was decorated
with bowls of mistletoe and a na
tivity scene displayed on a table.
The topic of the program, in charge
of Mrs. Leonia Westbury, was
“Where Jesus Walked.”
Mrs. S. S. Barnette conducted a
devotional and prayer service.
The following who took part on
the program were dressed as wom
en of Palestine thus further em
phasizing the topic: Mits. Roper,
Mrs. Maxfield and Mrs. Rasor. Mrs.
Cook and Mrs. Westbury portrayed
parts of Hebrew wx>men.
Mrs. Rasor led the song “The
sands have been washed in the
Footprints of the Stranger from
Gallilee’s Shore.”
After a business meeting and of
