Bible Class Meeting
This evening at 7:30 Miss Garri
son, Bible teacher, will meet with
the Bible class from Clinton high
school at the Community building.
Community Building Decorated
As soon as darkness settles over
Clinton one can see from a dis
tance the glowing of Christmas
lights from the Community build
ing which has been decorated for
the holidays. Nearing the building
the wreath on the door and the
evergreen artistically arranged
around the door come into view.
Entering the building one _sees
white trees trimmed with orna
ments and angel hair in the hall
and television room. On side tables
the decoration committees have ar
ranged various scenes of the holi
day spirit. Before the two front
windows stand a trimmed tree. The
two pianos have been placed *side
by side and a striking snow picture
of Santa, his sleigh and reindeer
adorn them. In his sleigh Santa
carries varied sizes of candy canes.
Leaving the parlor one enters
the dining room where the snow-
covered mantel shows a silver
sleigh and reindeer and golden
candles at each end, reflected in
the large mirror which hangs
above it.
But the table with its beautiful
centerpiece of candles encircled
by greenery and golden sprays on
a green cloth overlaid with white
organdy is the outstanding feature.
At each end of the table lies a
wreath of magnolia leaves set off
by orange and yellow, and a large
bow at the very bottom.
All of this beautiful decoration,
which has already added much to
the holiday festivities and will add
much to the many gatherings in
the next few weeks, has been done
by committees from the following
organizations: Yellow Jasmins,
Carolina Wrens, Sunbonnets, Clara
Duckett, Green Garden club, and
the Woman’s club of Clinton Mills.
Missionary Mooting
The annual Christmas party of
the Woman’s. Missionary Society, of
Bailey Memorial Southern Metho
dist church was held Monday eve
ning in the beautifully decorated
Community building. Duing din
ner all enjoyed Christmas carols,
played on the piano and solovox
by Misses Joan Burgess, Loraine
Patterson and Mrs. Joe E. Land.
After dinner all essembled in
the parlor and the president, open
ed the brief business session. This
meeting included the drawing of
Big Sister names for the coming
year.
The devotional period was open
ed by the singing of “O, Come All
Ye Faithful,” accompanied by Joan
Burgess and Loraine Patterson at
the pianos. Following the prayer
led by Ms. Marcell Barker, Myra
and Kathy Snelgrove sang, “O,
Little Town of Bethlehem.” Kath
leen Weir read Luke 2:1-14, and
all joined m the singing* of the
first verse of “Silent Night.” A
meditation on the theme, “Ready
For Christmas,” was brought by
Mrs. W. R. Terry. The devotional
period was closed by the singing
of the last verse of “Silent Night.”
Following the devqtional the Big
Sister Christmas gifts were dis
tributed by the Misses Myra and
Kathy Snelgrove, Joan Burgess and
Loraine Patterson.
