Mr. Eicheiberger
Grateful
I wish to take this opportunity
of thanking the good people of
Clinton for their support in elect
ing me to City Council to repre
sent Ward Four.
I am mindful of the responsibili-i
ties that go with such a job of' 1
trust.
As your representative, I shall!
endeavor to develope a plan and!
program with the cooperation ofj
the Mayor and Council for the de-,
velopment of Clinton. I shall work:
for increased efficiency in every I
department which should stabilize
our financial structure in order that!
we may adequately and on a sound'
financial basis take care of our ex-j
panding and growing city.
—H. L. EICHELBERGER.
Truman, Stevenson
Discuss Future
Of Demo Party
Washington. — Adali Stevenson!
and Harry S. Truman met yester
day in the White House to sift the
past of the Democratic party in
search of its future.
The accent . was on the future
but uppermost in the two-day
talks between the President and j
the man he tried hard to make his
ages and interests^ Melvin fjkeud,!
president of Toy Guidance CKIpciJ,
reported that “the variety of play
equipment is broader this year
than ever in the past, and that
quality of America’s playthings for
1952 has never been higher.”
County Farmers
Plant Multiflora
Roses for Fences
By W. H. Fleming
Soil Conservation Service
The Laurens county soil conser
vation district recently received
20,000 multiflora rose plants from
the soil conservation service nurs
ery for use in observational plant
ings. These seedlings were distrib
uted to the following cooperators
with the District: Frank Baum-
berger, M. S. Boyd, Y. T. Songer,
Dr. L. L. Long, A. L Gray, H. B.
CARD OF THANKS
During my stay at Hays hospital
the days were made shorter by the
many cards from my friends and
loved ones.
The beautiful flowers sent me gave
something to look upon beside the
bare walls. The doctors’ and nurses’
smiles made the pain a bit lighter to
bear. The prayers of the ministers
were sweet and appreeiatedr —-
I say, “Thank you all.”
—MRS. JOHN BOYD, SR.
Harlan and Roger Blakely.
Multiflora roses for “living
fences” and wildlife cover may be
thfe answer to the high cost of
of fencing. With “Grassland Farm
ing” increasing at a rapid rate
there is more interest in fencing.
These roses grow to a height of
about ten feet and do not spread
from rootstocks. They grow best in
fertile soil. Plants should not be
planted close to the woods since
they cannot tolerate shade. Living
fences keep the livestock and the
soil in the pasture.
