Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Greer, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Coker spent the week-end recently in Shan non, Gh., with Mr. and Mrs. John White and Mr. and Mrs. Donald McIntyre, Mr. and Mrs. Huland King and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Prince in Marietta, Ga. Cpl. Joe Proffitt of Fort Ben- ning, Ga., spent the week-end with Mrs. Proffitt and son. Mr. and Mrs. Casey Abercrom bie and Jimmy of Greenwood, were week-end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Motte. Ed Motte of South Greenwood also visited the them during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Medlock and children of Joanna, visited Mr. and Mns. Charles Harvey and Mrs. Alma Harvey recently. Last week-end Mrs. Harvey visited Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Turner in Green wood. Lawson and Henry Smith of Maiden, N. C., are visiting their mother, Mrs. Clara Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Grange Chumley. Mr and Mrs. Rudolph Sims and Vicki of Simpsonville, spent tha week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Claud Sims. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Boozer visited Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Boozer in Kin- ards Saturday. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Boozer had as their guests Mr. and Mrs. Jim Buzhardt. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Black, Sr., Helen and Tony Black spent Sun day in Columbia with Mr. and Mrs. John Castle. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barbee and Brenda of Madison, Ga., Nancy Adams of Rock Bridge, and Nancy Ann Smith of Clinton, were din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Smith Sunday. Mrs. Bertha Gregory of Griffin, Ga., was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Smith last Tuesday. She is spending several weeks with Mrs. Gus Harris and Mrs. Homer Douglas in West CUntonr Mr. and Mrs. J. The Women of the Church meet Thursday night ht the home of Mrf. H. C. Holt. All ladies are re quested to be present at 7 o’clock. Contest For Queen An interesting contest is now on in the lone Wallace Kindergarten where some young lady . will be chosen Queen at the 1 Midget foot ball game. The contest will run until Nov. 14. Win Red Feathers Tuesday morning the Kindergaf- ten children were quite thiaUed as they placed the sticker on the dindow saying they were 100 per cent in giving to the Community chest ctf Greater Clinton. They were very proud in wearing their i red feathers. I Birthdays and Anniversaries Mrs. Bessie Kemells, guest of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Willard, is ob serving a birthday Nov. 5. James Walter Scott will cele brate his 3rd birthday Nov. 12. Richard Coker observed a birth day October 18. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Motte ob served their 22nd wedding anni versary Nov. 1. Johnny Earl Smith, grandson of Mfrs. Clara Smith, is celebrating a birthday Nov. 7. Roberta Prince observed a birth day October 31. David Word celebrated his birthday November 4. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Campbell celebrated their birthdays Oct. 19 and 23. Donald Snider will observe a birthday November 14. Enjoy Hallowe'en Party The Aowakiya group of Camp Fire girls entertained at a Hallo we’en party Thursday night in the Community center. Decorations of I vari-colored leaves and jack-6’-lan- tems were used throughout the building. Patsy Fuller, president, acted as hostess and met the guests at the door. The old-fashioned game of “Turn Over Fruit Basket,” was played as a mixer. Helen Black and Joyce Todd led the game of fortune telling and the fate of each foretold good news. After playing several games Bev erly Buzhardt and Carolyn Ben nett led in singing Camp Fire songs. The girls had as their guests their leaders, Mrs. Trannie Boozer, Mrs. Lois Webb and Mrs. Wallace. Each girl also invited her boy friend and her mother. Refreshments of sandwiches, po tato chips, cup cakes gnd soft drinks were served by the refresh ment committee: Patsy Puller, Re- ba Patterson, Catherine Whitmire, and Betty Jo Vanderford. Thirty- six guests were present Big Hallowe'en Carnival Friday night the auditorium of Providence school was the scene of a Hallowe’en carnival, sponsored by the teachers and the Lydia Woman’s club. Goblins, witches, clowns and Gypsies roamed all over. The carnival began with a grand march, where a hundred or more competed for prizes. A suave Mexican, (who said he was a Mexican), four year old Harvey Shumate, was the winner in the small dhikiren’s march. Larry Fincher and Guekla Tucker won prizes in their group. The food booth was swamped at all times and hot dogs reigned su preme. A nice sum was realized and will be used in the comfnun ity.
