Mrs. Shepard Nicholson has re turned to her home in Darlington after a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Bailey Williams, and Mr. Wil liams. Miss Katherine Davis of Ashe ville, N. C, spent last week with her mother, Mrs. J. Asa Davis* and other relatives here. Lee Blakely, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Blakely, has returned td Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N. C., where he is a second year student. J. L. Brandt of Asheboro, N. C., spent the week-end here with Dr. and Mrs. B. O. Whitten and was ac companied home by his daughters, Martha and Susan, who have spent several weeks with their grandpar ents. Friends of Mrs. Brandt will be glad to know she is convalesc ing at home following an operation illness. Mrs. Samuel Gray and children returned Tuesday to their home here after being away for the sum mer months visiting relatives and ter’s mother, Mrs. Austin Chandler. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Shands are in Columbia with their daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Roger L. Coe. Open House On October IS and 16 The public*' is cordially invited to attend open house at the newj County Home October 15 and 16, trom 12 noon until 6 o’clock in the afternoon. A special invitation to| attend is issued to all groups and. organizations who have contribut- j S ed toward the home. The new building, which has re-' cently been completed and will be ocupied the 14th, was built with funds from insurance from the col- ,ored home which was destroyed by fire almost two years ago and from an extra appropriation from the county. The former home for whiltes will be used for the colored residents now. The home, which has seventeen rooms, will accomodate the resi dents each with a separate room, also contains a sitting room, nurs es’ quarters and two sick rooms. Other facilities include, heat, a telephone and a chapel. The home was furnished by do nations from civifc organizations and church groups and individuals who has equipped one room as a memorial. Placques have been placed m the rooms designating the donors. The committee for soliciting for 1 furnishings was composed of Mrs. D. O. Rhame, chairman; and Mrs. John T. Young of this city; Rev.
