Seated Tea
For Visitors
Mrs. Robert S. Owens gave a
seated tea last Wednesday after
noon for Mrs. Billy Owens of Sa
vannah, Ga., and Mrs. Paul Tur
ner of Decatur, Ga., who were vis
iting here.
About fifteen friends of the hon-
orees were invited for the delight
fully informal hour during which
refreshments were served buffet in
the dining room. Zinnias in varied
shades were prettily arrayed in
the hostess home for the occasion.
Mrs. Francis Blalock assisted the
hostess in the courtesies of enter
taining. •
Guests Entertained
With Bridge Party

the background of greenery and en

abra holding lighted tapers. In the
I center of the mantel were gladioli
and dahlias in sun burst effect with
similar arrangements on either side.
A tracery of Southern smilax out
lined the stairway.
Mrs: Gary Lehn, sister of the bride
was matron of honor, and Miss Joan
Vaughn was maid of honor. Their

Mrs., Augustus Blakely .of Clinton,
mother of the bride-elect; and Mrs.
Earle Barron, mother of the bride
groom-elect.
Miss Blakely was presented a
corsage to wear for the occasion.
Entertaining guests at the dining
room door were Mrs. C. Bruce
Barksdale and Mrs. Joel S. Bailey.

Again on Friday morning Miss Lee
was the guest of honor for a crystal
shower given by Mrs. W. E. Baker
and Mrs. Elmer Baker at the home
of the former in Whitmire.

Tribble, Mrs. R. L. Plaxico, Mrs.
David Tribble, Mrs. W. D. Adair and
Miss Nannie Young Tribble of this
city were among those attending.
August Meeting
ARP Bible Class
The August meeting of the Ladies
Bible Class of the Associate Re
formed Presbyterian Church met
Monday evening at the church with
Mrs. Earl Donnan, Mrs. Hubert Todd
and Miss Jane Todd as hostesses.
Mrs. George Watts Copeland taught
the Bible lession on the Sixth Com-
mandment.
Friday afternoon Mrs. Jasper
Rowland entertained guests for
four tables of bridge at her home
on Chestnut street extension.
Bowls of salvia arranged with
greenery and bright colored zin
nias adorned the living room and
in the den zinnias, margiolds and
nasturtiums in shades of orange
and yellow were used.
Cold drinks and dainties were en
joyed during the games and later
a salad plate was served.
High score and floating prize
went to Mrs. James Addison and
Mrs. John W. Forsyth won second
honors.

Ohio Visitor
Honoring her house guest, Mrs.
Paul Port of Youngstown, Ohio,
Mrs. W. G. King, Jr., was hostess

bride, wore an afternoon dress of
blue lace and nylon net. Her corsage
was of pink rosebuds.
Mrs. Matthews, mother of the
groom, was gowned in rosq crepe and
her flowers were white roses.
