DeWitt Norwood
Passes At Laurens
—
Laurens, July 28.—DeWitt Mar
vin Norwood, Sr., 72, died at the
Laurens County hospital early
Monday morning following several
years of declining health.
Mr. Norwood was born in Chapel}
Hill, N. C., the son of the late
Claude and Sallie Rigsby Norwood.
He had made his home in Laurens
most of his life where he was en
gaged in the banking and insur
ance business. He was a member of
the First Methodist church of Lau
rens.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Lylmae Bailey Norwood; two sons,
DeWitt, Jr., Barnwell; William
Wright, Pickens; three daughters,
Mrs. B. B. Gilbert, Ft. Tilden, N.
J.; Mrs. I. T Wejling, Jr., Green
ville, and Miss Rachel Norwood,
Charleston; three brothers. Jack
Will and Ex, all of Chapel Hill, N.
C.: two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Gattis
and Mrs. Ben Pritchard, both of!
Chapel Hill, N. C., also 7 grand-1
children.
Funeral services were conducted
Wednesday morning at the Ken
nedy Mortuary with Dr. W. B.
Garrett in charge. Burial was in
the Laurens city cemetery.
