Clinton All-Stars Leave
The Clinton All-Stars left Mon
day for Charleston where they will
participate in the regional tourna
ment with a double elimination.
In the tournament are 8 teams
from South Carolina and 2 from
North Carolina. The winners will
go to Washington, Pa., for the se
ries. Those from Joanna going
were Dusty Reeves, Bill Dobbins,
Gerald Jenkins. Dwight Tucker,
and Ray Farmer. They were ac
companied by Dick Templeton of
Clinton and Hack Prater on the
Foundation bus. Mr. Prater re
turned Monday, but Mr- Templeton
will remain through the week.

the local officers. Preceding the
meeting and following the meeting
a fellowship hour was enjoyed
with refreshments of punch and
cookies being served from a lovely
appointed table.
Approximately 75 ladies were
present.
Girl Scouts Have Outing
On Tuesday evening the Girl
Scouts of Joanna, enjoyed a swim- !
ming p'frty followed by a picnic at
the community shelter. About 40
girls were present w r ith the scout
leaders, .Mrs. H. G. Murrah, Jr.,
and Miss Hilda Oxner.
All-Star Squad y
The following boys were picked on
the all-star squad: Archie and Sweet
(Thornwell); Floyd and Morse (Jo
anna); Nettles and B. Pace (Florida);
Bagwell, Davenport, Oakley and J.
Pace (Lydia); Hancock, Hughes,
Hughey and Joye (Academy); alter
nates: Coker (Florida), Rowe (Jo
anna).
Clinton Defeats Laurens
After the Clinton L. J,. all-star
were picked last Saturday they had
a game with Laurens L. L. all-stars
and defeated Jhem 3-2. William Ar
chie drove the ball out of the park
in the, first inning with Floyd and
Oakley on base to give Clinton the
jnargin of victory. Laurens scored
one each in the first and sixth in
ning. Archie, Hughes, and J. Pace
pitched for Clinton. \
William Archie Most Valuable
The managers of the Clinton Little
League teams voted William Archie
as the most valuable L. L. player this
year. He led the league in home
runs, strike-outs, and batting aver
age.
The most valuable Pony Leaguer
will be picked next week. Each boy
will receive a nice trophy.
