“Super” cottons, triple-hybrids

In early experiments, it has been
found that some of these cottons
spin more casly and produce yarns
of greater smoothness and uniform
ity. Some varieties are reported to
have luster like certain synthetic
materials.

The queslion of why President
Truman did not invoke or act under
the Taft-Hartley act has been high
lighted in the steel arguments. In
the first place, the President sought
to prevent a shut down of the steel
mills. There is nothing in the Taft-
Hartley act which would have pre
vented a shut down, and, as a mat
ter of fact, invocation of this act
would have of a certainty shut down
the mills for at least two to three
weeks.
