The officials added, however,
that no action by the board is likely

Club members due to expire June 30.
The board was said to be reluct
ant to suspend its controls until
Congress acts, because it fears thi c
might encourage Congress to take
away the boards installment cred
it control powers altogether.
And the board is anxious to keep
this power, so that it could impose
controls quickly again if it felt they
were needed to curb credit buylngr
In fact, the board is asking Con
gress to give it a free hand to im
pose whatever installment terms it
thinks are needed. The present
law restricts the board so that even
if it wanted to, it could not fix
terms’ stiffer than most of the re
quirements now in effect.
