Safety Contest
Columbia, March 28. — Thirty-
three South Carolina municipalities
are eligible for the American Au
tomobile Association’s national Pe
destrian protection contest based on
1951 acivities.
The State Highway Department,
which is assisting with the contest
through its safety educaion sec
tion, said today that all 33 have
filed the required enrollment
forms.
Clinton and Laurens are; among
the municipalities entered.
The highway department said all
the cities have a 100 per cent rec
ord for the last three years.
Three of the cities will win spec
ial awards offered by the Carolina
Motor club. These will be in ad
dition to any awards to be made
on a national basis.
ATTEND FUNERAL
Mrs. F. F. Hicks and Frank Falls
Hicks attended the funeral of Dr.
R. C. Hicks at Lawndale. N. C.,
on Friday. He was a dentist and
practiced in Shelby for thirty-five
years. A brother of the late Dr.
F. F. Hicks, he was ill at the time
of his passing and unable to attend
the funeral.
