Passes In Greenville

Greenville, Feb. 18.—Col. Ellis
Earle Cooley, 62, retired United
States army medical officer, died
early this morning" at a Greenville
hospital following several years of
declining health.
He was a veteran of World Wars
I and II, having served in France
during the first conflict, and on the
West Coast at Letterman hospital
ahd in India, during the second Af
ter retiring in 1946 he had made
Greenville his home. Col. Cooley
was a member of the Greenville
Medical society and of - the Torch
club.
Survivors include his widow,
Mrs. Velma Smith Cooley; one son,
Captain Stephen Cooley of the
Medical corps at Fort Bragg; one
daughter, Mrs. Anne Pohle, of New
York Citv: his mother. Mrs. J<yhn
Baylis Cooley of Anderson] Two
brothers, Curran Earle Cooley of
Anderson, and Col, John B. Cooley
of Mountville; one sister, Mrs: C.
H. Arndt, of Clemson, ' and one
grandchild.
Furteral services were conduct
ed at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon
from the graveside in West View
cemetery at Easley by Dr. John
McSween of Clinton.
