Marshall, Jr., was hostess to her bridge club on Thursday afternoon with players for two tables assembling. The card rooms were attractive with bouquets of daffodils and flowering shrubs of the early spring season. High score was won by a club visitor, Mrs. Robert Vance and sec ond honor went to Mrs. E. H. Wilkes. After the games the hostess serv ed a salad course. Mrs. Johnson Is Club Hostess ; . Members of her bridge club met on Thursday at the home of Mrs. Walter A, Johnson for a numbef of afternoon games. 'Two tables were placed for,, the games with jonquils and quince prettily arranged with greenery as a background. Mrs. William Bailey Owens won the club prize for top honors. Following cards a salad course and Iweets were enjoyed. y* ^ Dessert Bridge Given For Club A* dessert bridge was given on Thursday afternoon by Mrs. Perry M. Moore for members of Iter card club. Two tables were laid for refresh ments in a setting of early spring flowers featuring daffodils and quince. Mrs. Roy Casque and Mrs. Henderson Pitts were found to be high and second score winners when scores were counted after the progressions. Dinner was served buffet from a table beautifully ’ap pointed in the dining room. Cen tering the table was a revolving cupid on lighted base, banked with carnations and greenery. About seventy-five enjoyed the occasion. Mrs. Adair Hostess Sara Glenn Circle Mrs. Clifton Adair and Mrs. W. M. Hughbs were joint hostesses on- Monday evening to the Sara Glenn Circle of Broad Street Methodist church at the home of the former. The home was lovely with many seasonal arrangements including camellias and gladioli combined with magnolia leaves and other greenery. Yellow spring flowers were used for decoration in the dining room and greenery in the living room. Two tables were in play, with Miss Cornelia Harris and Mrs. R. E. Sadler, Jr., winning prizes. Ray presented the program on “Let Courage Rise With Danger.” The 27th Psalm was used as a de votional. j Campfire Organization Entertains Fathers Members of the Campfire Girls and bluebirds, the junior organiza tion, entertained the fathers with a Valentine “Dad-Daughter” party on Thursday evening at the First Presbyterian church. One hundred and twenty-eight j members and their guests, enjoyed a box picnic supper. The “Wel come” song was sung by the girls and after supper movies on the Bahamas and Louisiana were shown. Carrying out the chosen motif a bowl of Japonica graced the table and a mantel arrangement of snapdragons were decorative. “Cross Logs”, the Campfire" emblem was displayed on the piano. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by her daughter. t Charter Presented i Newly Organized Women's Club Here The charter meeting of the new ly organized Business and Profes sional Women’s Club was held on Tuesday evening in the ball room of the Hotel Mary Musgrove with all forty-nine charter members and a number of visitors in attendance. A four-course dinner was served. Table appointments and decora tions carried out the club colors, blue and gold. Tall lighted tapers, a tracery of ivy, and bowls of-jon quils were placed at intervals along the tables and places were marked with cards bearing the club seal.
