PFC. WILLARD F. BARBER.'Ragland, Atiu, la visited at the
Ft, Benning Hospital by Red Cross girl Sarah Curtis.
“I was wounded in Korea on the 29th of November and for a
little while after being hit I didn’t know whether I was going to
make it back or not. 1 was wounded pretty bad in my left leg and
lost an awful lot of blood, but the blood transfusions the medics
gave me at the aid station brought my strength back and gave mo
a fighting chance to live.
. “I saw a lot of our fellows hit and know what blood transfusions
meant to them, too.
"I want the folks here at home to-know that the blood they do
nated through (he Red Crews fpr use by the armed.forces at the
front, in the aid stations, field hospitals, and the hospitals in Ja
pan, and even here at home, really means a lot to all of us, for
many of ua are alive today because the blood was there when It was
needed."
